PROSPECTUS 2019-20

Vision & VisionariesThe DAV Institutions are the gift of Arya Samaj, a progressive movement founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati in 1875. Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the great path-maker of modern India, led a crusade against the superstitious and pernicious practices that prevailed in contemporary India.

With a view to bring about a balanced and harmonious development of the future citizens of this country and to infuse in them the ideals of Vedic Culture and high sense of patriotism, Arya Samaj founded a school at Lahore in 1886 by the name of DAYANAND ANGLO VEDIC SCHOOL. This established the DAV College Trust & Management Society, which later set up a network of such educational institutions all over India and abroad.

The DAV Movement would not have achieved its goal, had not a young brilliant graduate – Mahatma Hansraj – the first Principal of the first DAV institution offered his honorary services as ‘Jeevan Daan’, for 25 years. Matchless also is the sacrifice of his brother, Lala Mulkraj who fulfilled his pledge of supporting Hansraj’s family all these years.

A brief history of the SchoolAgrasen DAV Public School, Bharech Nagar, was launched in 1993 with the co-operation of the local Agrawal community. Shri R. N. Agarwal, renowned philanthropist, industrialist, and the then Managing Director (Sri Durga Cement Company, Hesla) had donated 0.33 acre land to the School, that was later taken over by the DAV organisation. It was formally inaugurated on 17 October 1993 by Late G. P. Chopra, the then President of the DAV College Managing Committee.

Hon’ble Mohanlalji, Secretary and Education Advisor, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi laid the foundation stone of the Mahatma Hansraj Block of the School on 10th May 2002. Now the school has grand and beautiful building well equipped with spacious library, Sc. labs and computer Lab. etc.

The school has classes upto +2 level and is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. At present, the School has a strength of more than 2700 students and an area of 3.25 acres. During a short period of twenty-four years, it has earned a remarkable name and is now known as one of the leading schools in the Region.

Presently, it is the largest non-government Educational Organisaation in the country managing over 800 Educational Institutions.

DAV Educational Institutions

Aims & ObjectivesThe DAV schools provide a congenial environment for all-round development of the whole personality and its integration with the society, particularly in reference to the Indian context. Positive ideas are inculcated in students as regards personal hygiene, neatness of uniform, cleanliness of surroundings, graceful manners, obedience and discipline. To achieve high academic standards, personal attention is given to each individual child.

Highly motivated and dedicated team of teachers play the role of a model for the children. Individual care and personalised coaching and regular efforts have woven a very vibrant and inspiring environment.

Educational ToursThe school plans picnics and educational tours for the students. They are taken to Historical places, Museums, Factories, Research Institutions, Botanical garden etc. to give them a first hand knowledge.

ExhibitionsArts & Crafts Exhibition, Science and Social Science Exhibition are held every year.

Parent – Teachers MeetIn order to establish a meaningful relationship between the school and the parents, meetings are held frequently to discuss the progress of each student.

School ActivitiesTo inculcate moral values in the students, the school starts each working day with the morning assembly, that includes recitation of Veda Mantras, devotional songs, patriotic songs and thought for the day. Stress is laid on the universal aspects and eternal values of Indian Culture. Short talks are given by the students and the teachers on a variety of subjects and important current events. The news by the students are read out daily. Every morning, the assembly disperses with the singing of the National Anthem.

Hawan is performed on every Saturday and Dharma Shiksha books are prescribed to educate the students in moral values. Vedic Initiation Camps are held twice a year.

Learning is a joy here as teachers make their lessons very interesting by following various methods of teaching viz. Demonstration, Experimentation, Project Work, Home Assignments, Play-way, Micro-teaching, Structure-method etc. Education is child centred here and singing, mimicry, playing, dramatization echo in the campus.

The strength and success of DAV schools lie in the harmonious blend of science and technology and sound grounding of ancient Vedic Culture. The aim of DAV schools is to inculcate in the students a thirst for knowledge, devotion to duty, honesty, patriotic fervour besides humanism. We impart an education “to build” and an education “to pay”.

House SystemTo create an atmosphere of healthy competition and team-spirit, most of the school activities are governed by House-system. Inter House Competitions are held regularly.

Blossoming of Latent TalentsWe expose the child to hobbies like reading, sketching, singing, dancing, public speaking and gardening and ensure that discipline becomes a second nature of the child. Individual and consistent monitoring of every student enables the teacher to recognise the field in which a particular child can excel. Children with similar interests and inclinations are grouped together and then the teachers help them to nurse and cultivate their talents. They are given ample opportunity to participate at regional and national level competition. They are also

trained in Yoga, Martial Arts and Music by experts.

Special emphasis is given on personality development of KG and Pre-primary students. They enjoy toy room, activity room equipped with computer aided literacy, LCD projector etc. There is no exam system up to class II.

Some of these are: Modernization of infrastructure in schools and colleges, Introducing technology in teaching-learning process, Creating a network of people all over the globe through Alumni Foundation, Strengthening Vedic virtues, etc. While DAV feels proud of its achievements, it is yet not contented. Its vision is to be crowned as the finest educational organization in the world. Its mission is man-making, dispelling ignorance and building Vedic values. Our success in this endeavour has the potential of making our society free from prejudices and vices. We, the members of DAV fraternity, believe that the best way to bring a change is to initiate it.
