2. GETTING STARTEDeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™checkstoseeifAndroidEventInjectionserviceisenabled.Ifitisdisabled,youwillbepromptedto enableit.Enablingthisletsyouturnonandusemajorapplication featuresandfunctions.
3. USING THE ACCESSIBILITY MODES3.1. Using Hands-free ModeHands-freemodeletsyoucontrolyourmobiledevicewithoutusingyourhands.Instead,youcancontrolthecursorbymovingyourhead.Movingyourheadinanydirectionletsyoutonavigatetoanypointonthescreen.Hands-freemodealsoletsyouperformtap,swipe,and scrollactionswherethecursorstops.
Toenterhands-freemode,tap thehands-freemodebutton (see Figure 1).
Toperformatapaction,movethecursoruntilitsstopsonthescreenwhereyouwanttotap.Aloaderappearsonthecursorindicatingtheamountoftimeremainingtoperformtheaction.Loaderdisappearsassoonasthesetamountoftimeiscompleteandactionisperformed.
Toperformascrollaction,swipeactionortoaccessotherfunctions(such as open recent apps, home, back, volume up, and volume down),openthespecialmenu.Toopenthespecialmenu,hoveroverthespecialmenubutton(see Figure 2).

3.1.1 Performing Swipe Action1. TostartSwipemodeandperform
swipegesture,clickontheDragiconintheDefaultSpecialmenu.Default cursor icon (see Figure 7) willchangetoDragcursoricon(see Figure 6)andDefaultSpecialmenuwillchangetoSwipegesture menu (see Figure 4).
2. Tostartswipegesture,locatethestartingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbyloader.Thisrecordsthestartingpointofthegesturewhichisindicatedbythechangeinthecolorofthedragcursoricon(see Figure 5).

3. Tocompletethegesture,locatetheendingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbytheloader.Thisperformstheswipegesture.SwipemodeisautomaticallydisabledandDragcursoriconchangesbacktotheDefaultcursoricon.
4. Inordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheswipegesturemodeafterperformingswipe,youhavetostartLockswipemode.TostartLockswipemodeclickontheDragicontwice.DefaultspecialmenuchangestotheLockswipe gesture menu (see Figure 8)indicatingthattheLockswipemodeisstarted.
3.1.2 Performing Long Click Action1. TostartLongclickmodeand
performlongclickgesture,clickontheLongclickiconintheDefaultspecial menu. Default cursor icon (see Figure 10)willchangetoLongclick cursor icon (see Figure 11)andDefaultspecialmenuwillchangetoLong click gesture menu (see Figure 9).
2. Toperformlongclickgesture,locatethepointonscreenwhereyouwishtoperformlongclickgestureandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbyloader.Thisperformsthelongclickactiononthatpoint.LongclickmodeisautomaticallydisabledandLongclickcursoriconchangesbacktothedefaultcursoricon.

3.2. Using XY ModeXY modeletsyoucontrolyourdeviceusingon-screencoordinates.
Everypointonthescreenhaslatitudeandlongitudecoordinates,likepointsonamap.Eachpointhas“XY”coordinates,likethegraphbelow (see Figure 15).

XY modeletsyoutargetaspecificpointonthescreen.Ithelpsyoupinpointthelatitudeandlongitudecoordinateswhereyouwantyourcursor to target.
Forexample,yourcursortargets thepointwheretwoXY mode lines intersect.
WhenXY modeisactive,thisis howitworks:
1. Ahorizontallinemovesdownfromthetopofthescreen.Tapwhenyouwantthehorizontalline to stop.
2. Averticallinemovesfromthe lefttotherightofthescreen. Tapwhenyouwanttheverticalline to stop.

Using XY mode with a switch device
YoucanpaireSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™toworkwithaswitchdevice.Toworkasapair,yourmobiledeviceandswitchdevicemustbeconfigured.Theycanbesyncedforone-buttonortwo-buttoncontrol.Youwillbeabletonavigatetoanypositiononthescreenandperformmobiledeviceactions,liketapping,scrolling,swiping,goback,gohome,openrecentapps,turnvolumeup,andturnvolumedown.Intwo-buttonmode,youcanalsoassignswitchdevicebuttontoperformadirectaction.
Controlling your device in one-button mode
Inone-buttonmode,youcanconfigureyourswitchdevice buttonto:
• startmovingtheXY mode horizontalline
• startmovingtheXY mode verticalline
• performatapactionwhereyourcursorintersectsthehorizontalandverticallines
• openeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™application’sspecialmenu,whichislocatedinthetopleftcornerofthescreen (see Figure 18)

3. Tocompletethegesture,locatetheendingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandperformtap.Thisperformstheswipegesture.Swipemodeisautomaticallydisabled.
4. Inordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheswipegesturemodeafterperformingswipe,youhavetostartLockswipemode.TostartLockswipemodeclickontheDragicontwice.One-buttonmodespecialmenuchangestotheLockswipegesturemenu(see Figure 21)indicatingthattheLockswipemodeisstarted.

Youcanmovethecursortoanypointonthescreenandperformanactionwiththecursor.
Inthismodeyoucanseeatranslucentgridonthescreenandcanmovethecursortothecentreofanycellonthegrid.Thecellsinthisgridarelabeledmuchlikecellsinaspreadsheet:columnsarelabeledwithlettersandrowsarelabeledwithnumbers.Eachcell’slabelconsistsofaletterandanumber.Forinstance,youcanmovethecursortothesecondcellinthethirdrowbysaying“Go to B3.”

4.2.2 Auto-tapAuto-tapisafeaturethatallowsyoutosetconditionsforautomatictapping.Theapplicationperformsatapactionautomaticallywhenthecursor stops for a set amount of time.Youcanadjusttheslidertosetthenumberofsecondsthecursorhasstoppedbeforeitperformsanautomatictapaction(see Figure 30).
Thisscreenalsoallowsyoutotoggleonorofftherepeattapaction.Whenturnedon,therepeattapactionperformsautomatictapsinintervalswhenthecursorhasstoppedforasetamountoftime.Whenturnedoff,atapactionisperformedonlyoncewhenthecursorhasstopped.Togglerepeattapswitchtoturnonorturnoffauto-tap(see Figure 30).
Tapping the “Apply” button saves changes to the auto-tap settings.

Thefloatingmenusettingsletyouadjusttheopacityofthefloatingmenu.Opacitysetsthevisualtransparencyofthefloatingmenu.Youmayadjusttheopacityofthefloatingmenuusingtheopacityslider(see Figure 36).
Thefloatingmenualsoletsyousetafixedorunfixedpositionforthefloatingmenu.Positionofthefloatingmenucanbe:
• fixed,inoneofthethreeunfixedscreenpositions
• unfixed,wherethefloatingmenudisplaysautomaticallybesidethecursorwhenthecursorremainsstillforasetamountoftime
Tosetafixedpositiononthescreen:
1. Togglethe“Followcursor” sliderto“off”.
2. Selectoneofthethreefixedscreenpositions:bottomleft,bottommiddle,orbottomright.
3. Tap“Apply”buttonto savechanges.
Tosetanunfixedpositionon thecursor:
