TOPIC: A SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE

June was a shy child who shared her feelings with me.

She felt unpopular as a result of being overweight.

Other campers teased and called her names.

My most memorable experience occurred during last summer.

June was remarkably open with me.

I taught swimming and also supervised a cabin.

We discussed ways she could handle her situation.

June thought of yelling at some of the children.

June thought of calling her family to go home.

We discussed changes she might make in eating and exercise habits.

I was amazed at how completely June trusted me although I was only seventeen.

Because of helping or trying to help children like June, I believe I would like to become a teacher or social worker.
