H.E. Esperanca Bias Minister of Mineral Resources Republic of Mozambique Esperança Bias has been the Minister for Mineral Resources in Mozambique since February 2005. Previously she was the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources (from 2000). Minister Bias is providing strong leadership in Mozambique on minerals policy, particularly through her commitment to establish a national policy to regulate the social investments of mining companies, to develop a strategy and policy of mineral resources, and to secure the social responsibility of mining companies. The policy aims to maximise community benefits of mining, mandate investment in schools and other infrastructure, and resolve concerns around resettlement.
