SPEED MEASURING UNIT USER MANUAL

(ESP-2000-B)

Unit Manual : ESP-2000B Page1(9)

Used for HIMSEN(H25/33, H21/32) and L27/38 Engine, this product,

SPEED MEASURING UNIT is designed to take frequency values

measured by SPS-02 Pick-Up Sensor(for Engine RPM) and TPS Pick-Up

Sensor(for T/C RPM), both of which are mounted onto Flywheel Cover,

and thereon calculate the two RPMs by applying the number of Teeths,

transmitting signals(0~6V) to indicate Engine RPM and T/C RPM on

display and providing Driver outputs to drive Engine-related Relay.

3. FUNTION DESCRIPTION

3-1 ENGINE RPM MEASURING

Speed Measuring Unit receives frequencies, measured by Pick-up Sensor(for

Engine RPM) mounted onto Flywheel Cover, and internally reduces RPM as

lllustrated below and thereon operates related outside Relay(MY4) by using its

built-in Driver.

(RPM Reduction and Output Range)

3-2. TURBO CHARGER RPM MEASURING

T/C Speed Pick-Up frequency is signaled from Pick-Up inside T/C. The

following shows calculations of RPM, frequency(Hz) and output(V) and their

correlations. This product has 2 T/C Pick-Up Signal Holes.

3-3. RELAY DRIVER OUTPUT RELATED TO RPM

Figure3. ESP2000B OUTLINE AND CONNECTION DIAGRAM

3-3-1. TACHO FAIL (Relay contact: Normal Close): Terminal 16

⑴ Normal Close works at the time of power supply.

⑵ In case that any one of the 3 lines for Pick-up Sensor is opened, it causes

the status of Fail, and OPEn (Sensor Open) is displayed on FND.

(The status is removed when Sensor is properly connected.)

⑶ In case that RPM does not reach 50(fixed) within 5 sec after Start Signal

becomes on, it caused the status of Fail, and S. FAL(Start Fail) is

displayed on FND.

(Tacho Fail is removed when Engine RPM is 200 or over or at the time of

Power resetting)

⑷ In case that RPM sharply decreases 200(fixed) to 0, it causes the status of

Fail in 1 second(fixed), and T. FAL(Tacho Fail) is displayed on FND.

(Tacho Fail is removed when Engine RPM is 200 or over or at the time of

Power resetting)

Page 6: ESP-2000B

Unit Manual : ESP-2000B Page6(9)

3-3-2. SAFETY START (Relay contact: Normal Open): Terminal 17

① This output indicates the stoppage of Engine. It works 5 seconds(fixed)

after RPM becomes 0 duing Power supply

② The output works 5 seconds(fixed) after RPM becomes 0 when Start Signal

and Safety Start are all off.

③ The output is removed when Tacho Fail is caused, Safety Start Off RPM is

exceeded(140 RPM = Setting Available), or Engine Start Signal becomes

on.

3-3-3. ENGINE RUNNING (Relay contact: Normal Open): Terminal 18

① This output indicates the status of Engine running. It works when Engine

speed is more than Engine Running On RPM or 200, or Engine Running

Delay Timer (10 sec = Setting Available) completes its counting.

② The output is removed when Engine Speed decreases again from Engine

Running On RPM or over to Engine Running Off RPM or below(640 RPM =

Setting Available)

③ The output is removed when Engine RPM becomes 200 or below after

Engine running provided Engine Running Delay Timer (10 sec = Setting

Available) completes its counting.

3-3-4. OVERSPEED (Relay contact: Normal Open): Terminal 19

① This output works when Engine speed is Enginer Over Speed On RPM or

over.

② The output is removed when Engine speed becomes 10% of Engine Over

(i.e. : 828 -(828´0.1) = 745)

3-3-5. FUEL LIMIT (Relay contact: Normal Open): Terminal 20

① This output works at the time of Fuel Limit On RPM (25 RPM = Setting

Available) or over and is removed at the time of Fuel Limit Off RPM (0 RPM

= Setting Available) or below.

② A relevant LED in front side lights off when Engine completely runs.

4. RPM & TIMER SETTING

RMP and Timer are set with relevant Push Buttons in front side which have the

following functions.

Figure4. SETTING PUSH BUTTONS

① Mode Push Button: Convert to next Setting Mode.

② INC. (Increase) Push Button: Increase set value at a high rate when kept

pressed for more than 5 sec.

③ DEC. (Decrease) Push Button: Decrease set value at a high rate when kept

pressed for more than 5 sec

④ Save Push Button: Save the present value

(Press down on Save Push Button, and its LED lights up simultaneously and

then lights off)

(NOTE: Keep Mode Push Button pressed for more than 5 sec under Safety Start to

enter Setting Mode when Engine Rpm is 0. If the button is kept pressed for

another 5 sec or over or if the button is not manipulated any longer, Setting Mode

is removed.)
