    Overview of the Divisions mission

    The Research and Technology Management Office in the Directorate of Operations and Infrastructure is incharge of coordinating and managing all R&T activities for space systems ground segments. This includesinitiation, capturing and alignment of all R&T activities (e.g. studies, advanced concept and demonstrationactivities) in line with the Directorates programmatic roadmap and the facilitation of research and technologyactivities such as studies and demonstration missions for ground segment and infrastructure applications. TheOffice is moreover the central point of contact for R&T matters inside the Directorate of Operations andInfrastructure and towards external partner in ESA, other agencies and research entities in academia andindustry.

    The training opportunity is offered in the Research and Technology Management Office in the Directorate ofOperations and Infrastructure in close cooperation with the Directorate of Operations and Infrastructuretechnical engineering units.

    Overview of the field of activity proposed

    The Directorate of Operations and Infrastructure is preparing for operating missions with robotic elements(rovers, telepresence/immersive robotic systems) in the context of various R&T activities.

    The YGT shall contribute to the preparation of robotic operations in the Directorate of Operations andInfrastructure by:

    Setting up demonstration cases and systems for operating robotic elements in cooperation with otherESA and external partners;

    Support the build-up of relevant practical experience in operating robotic elements throughdemonstration and presentation activities;

    Evaluating and synthesising requirements and suitable actions to prepare the Directorate ofOperations and Infrastructures methods, tools and infrastructures for future operation of roboticelements.

    Educational and other requirements

    Applicants should have just completed, or be in their final year of a University course at Masters Level (orequivalent) in an Engineering or scientific field. Applicants should have a solid knowledge / experience in

    IT, ideally in a robotics or operations environment.

    Applicants must be fluent in English and/or French, the official languages of the Agency.

    Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multi-cultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
