Hello, I hate to be one to talking about anyone on public forum. I attend Wilmer First Baptist Churchin the small town of WHello, I hate to be one to talking about anyone on public forum. I attendWilmer First Baptist Church in the small town of Wilmer,Alabama. I found out this morning by a ladyat 98 express that Larry Godfrey had came in there and said he had a court order to close downWilmer Park. I have known this lady at 98 express for a very long time and she is a business owneralso. She is a kind lady. I rode by the park and had to look for myself. I was not surprised with what I

saw. I pulled up to the front of the park and nearly got hit pulling into the drive being the gates arelocked at all ends. I was planning on taking my child to be a part of the football program this year. Heis 10 years old and was really looking forward to playing. This really surprises me due to the fact thatI had been taking my son to the camp that had been going on for 4 weeks now and met the newpresident and he was real nice. Seemed he was there for the kids. I was happy to see theimprovements he had done to the park. He had gotten Chris Samuels from the Redskins to come upand talk to the kids and the kids loved it. And the field has really turned out great. I have heard whatkind of man Mr Godfrey is but I didnt believe it at first. But with what he has done it has made me abeliever. Especially seeing all these comments about walking in on children in the shower and allthese other comments. I am saddened to see that Mr Godfrey do this to children and brag about it tothe people in the 98 express. There were several others in the store when this was said. I believe MrGodfrey needs to let god lead him to Wilmer Park and unlock the gates and drop down to one kneeand pray that the people that have sunk there life into this park this year during the off season comeback to continue being there for the children. From what I hear from the people in 98 Express is thatMr Godfrey wants to control all money for the whole town of Wilmer. I pray I am wrong but I havealso heard that Mr Godfrey has taken money from this ballpark and spent it on his personal businessat the campground. By locking this park you are stealing the one place that the kids of Wilmer haveto go to play football and enjoy the park for there special day. I admit there had been some badthings going on from past presidents and others in the park from previous years from what I hear butwhy take it out on the people that worked that field day in and day out during the offseason to makethis park a better place? Mr Godfrey I know you attend church, I just hope your not going for thewrong reasons. You need to know that the love of money is the root of all evil. You need to wake upin the morning after praying tonight that you can undo what wrong you have done. Remember god is

the strength that carries us through day to day and he is lord. Do the right thing and quit tearingdown what others are trying to build up.Why not change the man you are? Mr Godfrey if called uponI will pray with you for the sins you have sinned.

After calling some other parents, I foundout about a possibility of having NO football and cheerleading this season. What's with that. Our kids

deserve the opportunity, to be involved in extra- curricular activities. I also found out that it was theowner of the Escatawpa Hollow Campground is the person that is responsible for my boy not beingable to enjoy a PUBLIC park. how is that at all legal? No way I can take my kids for an afternoonpicnic, or a swing on the swing set. Too Bad My boy wanted to play football. We even heard that theMidget team for 2010, won the first championship for the park. Why not let these kids try again, andstart a tradition. Big shame someone would do something like this to the Kids of Wilmer. And hewonders why Wilmer has a bad name...

I pulled up tothe building to check in and was immediatly greeted by an elderly gentleman who accused me ofpulling into campground "too fast" and not waiting at the stop sign for him to walk out and greet us.

Unfortunately I HAD waited at the sign for more than 5 minutes, and after NO service I thoughtmaybe they didn't see us. But apparently he had other reasons for not letting my family in. After hetold us to leave and walked off I told my children that the "mean old man" wouldn't let us on, afterwhich he called us a racial term. I'll let you guess what it was. You spend more time reading the Rules than trying to enjoy yourself.Rented a Canoe for three hours and finally got it brought to us an hour and 15 minutes later. Ask iftime started when given canoe or when ask for it. Was told we only had one hour and 45 minutes left

and better have Canoe returned on time or be charged extra. Don't waste your time.

At the beginning of the summer my wife and Iwas looking for a fun place to take the kids swimming for the summer. She found this place andthought it would be great since it was only a few miles from our house. Like in the previous review,she calls one morning to get prices and the owner answers the phone, my wife starts to ask him

about his prices and he cuts her off and very rudely tells her not to be calling waking him up so earlyin the morning (7am). She apologized and told him she thought this was a business line and not aresidential line and he hung up on her. My wife, kids, parents, and I rented two camp sites side byside so we could camp out there for a couple days for Father's Day on Father's Day weekend. Forthe two days we were there, the owner made what was supposed to be a very relaxing, enjoyableFather's Day weekend for my family very very miserable. When we arrived that Saturday afternoonabout 3pm we set up our tents and it was really hot so we brought a small generator so we could runsome fans. The owner drives his John Deer Gator up in our camp site and very rudely tells us that ifwe wanted electricity we would have to pay extra for a RV site thats away from the water andcompletely unnecessary for our needs. We were polite dispite his attitude, but he then proceeds tothreaten us that he will kick us out if he has to come back. We never saw any rules posted aboutgenerators and the lady at the front gate told us it was fine. Later that evening I took my three girls,ages 6, 7, and 8, up to the bath house so they could wash off and bath before bedtime. Two of mygirls were in the bathroom taking a shower and my other girl and I were standing outside thebathroom washing the sand off of her before her shower. Well, while I'm tending to my daughteroutside, I turn around to see the owner walking into the girls bathroom while they were in therenaked still showering, yelling and cursing at them that they better get the hell out of there. My fatherinstincts kicked in at that moment and I charged toward the guy to get him out of the girls bathroomand he turns around and starts yelling for their parents. I told him I was standing right there and sawand heard what he did and told him that he better not approach my children again especially whilethey are naked in the bathroom and if he had something to say to them that he better come to mefirst. He started rambling about using all his hot water and I stopped him and said that I didn't careand if he tried to approach my children again I was going to call the Sheriff. He told me that it was

his bathroom and he could do what he wanted and I then told him that we could go ahead and callthe Sheriff out there now and let him explain why he was trying to enter the girls bathroom with twonaked little girls in there especially after he was told they were in the naked. I stood in his path andwould not let him enter until the children left. My wife and I walked up to the front to complain to thelady at the gate, which is his wife, and the next day he came back to our camp site and told us thathe didn't appreciate us attacking his good character. What a joke. After the way this owner treatedus and watching how he was treating others, we decided that this was our last trip to this place anddecided that we rather drive way out of our way to go to some place nice where we are appreciatedthan come to this hell hole and be treated like dirt and we informed them of that on our way out. Thisplace is not family, children, or anybody friendly! Beware and stay away from this place at all cost.There are much better places to go than to come here and be treated badly. I just wish there was

somewhere or somebody to file a complaint to so this place can be investigated and let more peopleknow about the horrors of this place.

There is a nice path to the river for fishing and you can rent canoes, kyacksor tubes to enjoy a nice day floating down the river.Location is 1/2 way between MS casinos &Mobile activities (USS Alabama & Bellingrath Gardens are both good activities).Our hosts do have

rules, but no more strict than those of other parks we have stayed at during our 4 years as full-timeRvers. They provided maps of local stores & restaurants to help us get situated and we were able tocome & go as necessary to help our son any time, night & day.This is a very pleasant campground,we WILL return to visit again, especially if we have grandbabies in the future!PS/there is a wonderfulfruit stand about 4 miles west on 98, great produce & good prices!
