Rationale Enduring Understanding: Culture shapes and is shaped in profound ways by patterns ofthought and action.
This unit establishes a frame of reference for the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary)course by investigating Christian worldview perspectives which underpin the individual’spursuit of a commitment to being a Christian teacher. Pre-service teachers will be challengedto investigate and develop personal worldview perspectives which are a consistent expressionof their understandings of the Christian faith.
This unit examines perspectives and philosophical worldviews which have been prominent inand had influence upon contemporary Australian education. The unit will further investigateAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in light of contemporary educational issuesin Australia. Processes for analysing worldview contents of texts, curriculum and culturalpractices will be developed and then applied to teaching and learning.
