Back to School Fun Fair & Ultimate Frisbee 1st—Disc Throwing Friends

2nd— StepDads

September 22nd was a fun filled day for MCA students with the annual Fun Fair and Ultimate Frisbee Tournament hosted by Student Council with many school clubs offering snacks and activities. Throughout the day students got to visit different tables and watch the Frisbee matchups. Future Business Leaders of America sold popcorn, Reading Club held a mini bake sale, the class of 2020 offered a variety of drinks and candy. Aside from food, the of-fice was selling potted plants that were a fan favorite and the School Wide Positive Behavior team held a pick-an-egg contest for a variety of prizes. Art Club conquered both areas by hosting a chalk drawing contest, as well as, iced tea, lemonade, and chocolate. The top two teams were the Disc Throw-

ing Friends in first, and the Stepdads in second. –Miranda Fiamoncini ‘19

MCA Homecoming 2017 This year Mount Carmel Area added another successful homecoming to the history books. It was a lot of fun, from the traditional homecoming parade featuring the homecom-ing court, to the past homecoming queen’s reunion, and the class banners. The banner theme was Retro Video games, with the class of 2019 coming in first with the help of Ms. Harner creating a 3-D version of Pacman. Second place went to the class of 2018 with Super Mario, their ad-visors being Mr. and Mrs. Domanski. The class of 2021 took third with Donkey Kong with their advisor Miss. Gola. The class of 2020 took on The Legend of Zelda, and the combined junior high classes of 2022 and 2023 did Tetris.

Congratulations to each class! ~Sammy Darrup ‘19

2017 is a milestone for the Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes as it’s their 125th year of football. MCA is the winningest team in Pennsylvania and 6th in the nation. Mount Carmel has won many championships in its storied history, even as early as 1927, as they claimed their first state champion-ship. Around the midpoint of the century in 1954, the Tornadoes won an Eastern conference championship. A little while later between the years of 1968-1973, MCA would capture 5 Eastern conference championships in 6 years. In the 90s, starting in 1994, Mount Carmel would have several years of success winning state titles in 94, 96, 98, 2000, and 2002. Today the Red Tornadoes are 6-4 and entering the PIAA district IV playoffs.
