About TED TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Opening as a four-day conference 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available for free at TED.com. TED speakers include Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman amongst others.

About TEDx In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At TEDx events, TEDTalk videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

TEDxUniversityofSaskatchewanTEDxUniversityofSaskatchewan is expected to have more than 500 attendees and approximately 20 live speakers. This event will be organized around three aspects: the importance of community, innovation of conference, and facilitating outreach. As we await this event with high anticipation, live speakers and TEDTalk videos will be used to explore a range of unique, meaningful ideas and perspectives worth spreading. Taking place the entire day, the campus community and the local community will have the opportunity to broadcast their ideas to the world.

The theme Building Bridges challenges individuals to reflect on their experiences of connecting and communicating with community and nature. Bridging past, present and future, we will look at how we have built and maintained relationships, fostered unity, and strived to create a positive atmosphere in an era where hatred and divide are intense. This year’s theme will inspire and reinforce the meaning of community.
