Error message -15000 from iTunes Windows 7 In some instances, when trying to stream audio from a computer using iTunes ® to an AirPlay ® device such as the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air, an error message (-15000) may be displayed in the iTunes window. This inhibits the ability to playback audio, due to certain UDP ports on the system being blocked. This error is documented within the Apple support knowledgebase regarding AirPlay devices and can be found here. Before Proceeding Ensure that both iTunes and your Zeppelin Air firmware have been updated to the latest version. If you are using a third party firewall (such as Norton™ or McAfee™), the Windows ® native firewall is normally disabled. If it isn’t this can be achieved by following the first three steps of this guide and then selecting the ‘Off (not recommended)’ option in the firewall settings. Error message -15000 from iTunesWindows 7

In some instances, when trying to stream audio from a computer using iTunes® to an AirPlay® device such as the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air, an error message (-15000) may be displayed in the iTunes window. This inhibits the ability to playback audio, due to certain UDP ports on the system being blocked.

This error is documented within the Apple support knowledgebase regarding AirPlay devices and can be found here.

Before Proceeding

Ensure that both iTunes and your Zeppelin Air firmware have been updated to the latest version.

If you are using a third party firewall (such as Norton™ or McAfee™), the Windows® native firewall is normally disabled. If it isn’t this can be achieved by following the first three steps of this guide and then selecting the ‘Off (not recommended)’ option in the firewall settings.

2. a) If Figure 1 is displayed, please click ‘System and Security’, on the next window please select ‘Allow a program through Windows Firewall’, this is located under the ‘Windows Firewall’ heading. You will then be presented with the ‘Allowed Programs’ window.

b) If Figure 2 is displayed, please click ‘Windows Firewall’, on the next window please select ‘Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall’, this is located in the left plane of the window. You will then be presented with the ‘Allowed Programs’ window.

3. This screen displays those programs and services that have had Firewall exception rules applied to them. If ‘iTunes’ and ‘Bonjour Service’ are not displayed in the ‘Allowed programs and features’ box you will need to add them.

- If both services are already listed as an exception, please proceed to step 1 of the Advanced Instructions below.

4. To add iTunes to the Windows Firewall ‘Allowed programs and features’ exception list, please click the ‘Allow another program…’ button, which is located on the bottom right of the window. This will then open the ‘Add a Program’ dialog box.

5. Please now scroll through the list of programs, select ‘iTunes’and click ‘Add’. After doing so iTunes will appear in the ‘Allowed programs and features’ exception list.

6. To add Bonjour to the Windows Firewall ‘Allowed programs and features’ exception list, please click the ‘Allow another program…’ button, which is located on the bottom right of the window. This will then open the ‘Add a Program’ dialog box.

7. You will now need to click ‘Browse’, after doing so you will be presented with the Browser navigation window. From the left navigation bar, please navigate to Computer C:\Program Files\Bonjour.

The root directory (in the example above C:\) may vary depending on your computer configuration. In the instance you are unable to find the folder stated above, please contact your computer manufacturer or systems administrator. Failing this please contact your local Bowers and Wilkins support centre via the online trouble-shooter.

8. Within C:\Prgram Files\Bonjour is the file ‘mDNSResponder.exe’, please select this and then click ‘Open’. You will then be presented with the ‘Add a Program’ dialogue box (note that ‘Bonjour Service’ is now listed), please click ‘Add’.

9. After clicking ‘OK’ in the previous step, you will once again be faced with the ‘Programs and Services’ exceptions list however now both iTunes and Bonjour will be listed. Ensure both services have checked boxes and click ‘OK’.

In most cases, the instructions above will be sufficient to overcome this issue, however in some instances the firewall will need further configuration. If after completing the above process you are still unable to stream music from iTunes to your Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air, please follow the steps on the next page.

Advanced Instructions

1. Please follow steps 1-2 of the previous process to navigate to the ‘Settings’ window in the ‘Windows Firewall’ settings. After doing so, please click ‘Advance settings’, which is located on the left plane of the window. The ‘Windows Firewall with Advance Security’ window will then appear.

2. From the left plane, select ‘Inbound Rules’ and then from the right plane select ‘New Rule…’. The ‘New Inbound Rule Wizard’ will now appear.

3. Follow the steps below:

- On the ‘What type of rule would you like to create screen?’, select ‘Port’, and the click ‘Next’. - When prompted ‘Does this rule apply to TCP or ‘UDP’?’, select UDP. - When propmted ‘Does this rule apple to all ports or specific ports?’, choose ‘specific local ports’ and enter ‘6001-6003’ in the box next to this option. Click ‘Next’.

The following steps are more advanced than those previously explained. If you are unsure or uncomfortable completing them, please seek further assistance.

- On the next screen, please select ‘Allow the connection’, and click ‘Next’. - Ensure all three boxes are checked when asked ‘When does this rule apply?’. - Finally, name the rule ‘AirPlay’ with the description ‘To allow connection to AirPlay Devices’.

4. You will now see ‘AirPlay’ listed in the Inbound rules.
