795 million people are still are estimated to be undernourished

More than 90 million children under 5 are still undernourished and underweight

Why I chose this topic

While solving this on a global level seems so unattainable, it all starts with each one of us. If we do our part, we can make a difference locally and that can spread even globally! I know that even in my community people struggle with poverty and malnutrition. As a local community, I think we can create a Facebook page where we can post updates and news about food drives or other community outreaches.I think food drives are an excellent idea that have been working for many years and should continue to be done. We also have a free lunch program during summers that give free lunches to children aged K-12.

Why I chose this topic (cont.)

As for the poverty, we need to have a verified internet page where employers can post jobs for people that are job hunting. This is such a broad issue that definitely stems from the way governments treat it and what relief they provide for people going through these situations but as a local community member I think it is important to be informed of any events that are going on and how we can get involved and help our fellow community members.
