ALI IMPROVED COTTER PIN DESIGN

The severerequirements ofheavy dutyequipmentrequire thestrongest andmost durablecotter pinpractical.Allied-Lockehas maximizedthe cotter size to withstand thetoughest demands.

Side plate holes are treated bypassing a hardened carbideball through the hole to impartnegative residual stresses andcreate exceptionally smoothhole surfaces. The processresults in improved fatiguestrength which equates tolonger chain life.

Chain parts are shot peenedprior to assembly to increasethe fatigue strength andimprove resistance to stresscorrosion cracking by inducingresidual compressive stressesin specified surfaces.

Wider waist link plates offerimproved fatigue strengthand greater resistance toshock load extending thechain life under the mostsevere environments.

Extensive lubrication testinghas led Allied-Locke to utilizethe best lubricant for extendingthe life of the chain. Lubricationis applied through a hot dipproces allowing for maximumpenetration of chain joints.
