Well-known local equestrian identities Jenny Cordingley and Kathy Shepherd were instrumental in staging the very first HOTY event. This prestigious equestrian event was sponsored by Territory Milling Horse Feeds with the handsome amount of $2,000 – which is very impressive sponsorship even by today’s standards. The Inaugural Northern Territory Show Horse of the Year was held in August 1986 at the Darwin Greyhound track next to the showgrounds in Winnellie. The event was held under lights at the Darwin Greyhound track next to the Darwin Showgrounds in Winnellie. The fence between the track and the show grounds was opened to allow access to the showgrounds stabling. With only 3 events on offer (Pony, Galloway and Hack) 66 horse and rider combinations entered the inaugural HOTY event. When compared to entries of more recent times, it certainly was an impressive start. All winners who were EFA members were eligible to represent the Northern Territory and compete south at the National Championships and so the Northern Territory’s leap to competing at a National Level commenced. The first ever NT Show Horse team competed in Adelaide in March 1987 with the 3 winners all travelling south. The travel method was not a conventional approach, but ensured the team and travelling companions had an enjoyable trip – John Williamsons True Blue became the unofficial anthem. Jenny and Kathy continued to run the event for the following two years, by which Time the Equestrian Federation of Australia (NT Branch) took over the reins and continue to do so now under the newer guise of Equestrian Northern Territory. Over the years the National event has expanded from the original three classes run over one afternoon, to two and nights of full competitions. As the event has grown so have the classes and the necessity to split height classes. The Northern Territory has competed at nearly every National competition since the first team competed in Adelaide in 1987. To date the Northern Territory has had success at the National Championships with Michaela Waldmann sashed Champion Junior Rider, Christopher Diplock sashed Runner Up Intermediate Rider, Cheraton Mikado sashed Champion Show Hunter Galloway and Oncia sashed Runner Up Champion hack. In 2014 Kirra Reynolds secured third place in the 13-15 Years Rider Class.

I have been involved with horses for many years, in a wide variety of disciplines and breeds. I am originally from WA where I have shown both breed and ridden horses successfully for many years, also running a small riding pony stud with my family. I now reside in Mansfield High Country Victoria, where with my husband, we train horses, instruct and currently show Hacks and Hunters with success. I have shown Hacks, Galloways, Ponies & Lead Rein Ponies all at top level, winning Horse of Years, Royal Show Champions, Newcomers and major award. I have also represented the state at both the EA Nationals and Grand Nationals several times for both WA and VIC. I have been fortunate enough to have judged in all states of Australia, Royals and Horse of the Years, and the EA Nationals plus overseas, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK in both saddle and breed events. Thankyou very much for the invitation to judge, I wish everyone a successful and happy show.

In partnership with my sister Shelley Riley we have owned ridden
and produced many successful hacks and ponies many carrying our
‘Yule Tara’ prefix, winning Champions and Reserve Champions in
every Height Group from Small Pony to Large Hack at the Perth Royal
Show, Horse of the Year and Newcomer events in Western Australia
as well as representing Western Australia at National level with our
own horses.
I have judged HOY competitions in QLD, NT, VIC, SA and NSW,
judging all events, Show Hacks, Show ponies, Hunters, Rider and
Turnout classes and have had the honour of judging the Equestrian
Australia National Show Horse Championships in 2012

Equine Inner Health has been formulated to repopulate the intestinal track of your Horse with Beneficial Bacteria, ensuring optimum absorption of all feeds as well as boosting their immune system.
A healthy Intestinal system will help your horse overcome infection, boost the
immune system, and gain efficiencies from absorbing nutrients from their feed.
Especially effective for sick or older horses that are having trouble with
digestion or weight loss issues. Excellent results are achieved for horses in high workloads (tying up) and under stress (from competition and travel). Fantastic results for Broodmares and dramatic reduction of scouring in new foals.
Includes the following trace Vitamins & Minerals: Calcium
Potassium
Magnesium
Selenium
Zinc
Manganese
Copper
Iron
Vitamin A
Vitamin B5
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B12
Riboflavin
Niacin
Folate
Choline
Sodium
Phosphorous

The Technical Stuff!
Equine inner health offers a multi-strain Probiotic blend of Bacteria to assist in
breaking down and digesting your horses feed! When we get an increase in
efficiencies in digestion it equates to more nutrients your horses will receive.
That means you can get the same energy or maintenance on LESS feed or
increase energy and have a rising plane of nutrition on the SAME feed. (In
laymen's terms they get Fatter)
By soaking grains and Legumes we break down the phytates (organic acids)
which block nutrient uptake. The bacteria breakdown and neutralise the phytic
acid as well as gluten and difficult to digest proteins making them far easier to
digest!
Pre digesting also frees up the absorption of minerals like Calcium,
magnesium Iron & especially zinc.
The Bacteria used include:
L.Acidophilus Found in the lining of the small intestine, reduces symptoms of
lactose intolerance, produces Vitamin K and especially useful in
guarding against harmful bacteria.(E.g. E-Coli)
L.Casei Especially good at treating diarrhoea and Bowel conditions IBS
(Read Colic)
L.Bulgaricus It produces a protein called interferon that fights invading viruses
by preventing replication. Other benefits include relief from
lactose intolerance and diarrhoea. Improves immunoglobulin
responses.
Bifidobacterium Strengthens the immune system, increases T-cell activity,
normalises digestive comfort, reduces allergies and
inflammation.
