What is Equella?Equella is:
A Learning Content Management System (LCMS). A number of collections of Learning Objects. A search facility for learning resources. A collaborative development facility. A resource creation and customisation facility. Link to the Training VC as a development tool.
What is a repository?
A repository has the following features: It has one or more collections of learning resources – usually
in the form of zipped Learning Objects. It is searchable based extensive metadata information. Learning resources can be previewed to assess suitability. Learning resources are downloadable. There is a workflow to facilitate sharing and collaboration in
learning resource development and publication. Learning resource are quality assured – usually.
The Equella Environment
Equella has the following features: Collections of resources. A personal development environment. A capacity to share ownership with people. A capacity other people to review and comment on developing
resources. A number of search and retrieval facilities to make locating
resources easy. An ability to search other repositories in Australia and
overseas. A Scrapbook for customising existing resources and creating
new ones. A contribution process for placing resources into the repository
for others to use.
Equella in the Training VC
• Each Training VC organisation will have a collection.• All organisation staff have access via the Training VC login.• PAs and others will have administrative rights in the collection.
