Mission

· Work through the states and with industryand to lead the federal government’s effortto ensure a secure and reliable flow ofenergy to America’s homes, industry, publicservice facilities and the transportationsystem

· Work to strengthen Homeland Securitythrough the application of science andtechnology to improve the reliability andsecurity of the national energy infrastructure

• No surprises• If we do our job right, any energy emergency

in the country will have been thought out,exercised, contingencies put in place,interdependencies determined before ithappens. Further, industry leaders, stateofficials, the Secretary of Energy and thePresident will get timely information onpotential impacts to the energy system withoptions, contingencies and remedial actionsto be taken regardless of the source of theemergency
