The EPOCH 600 design is ocused on providing a very high levelo faw detection with the simplicity o a basic instrument. TheEPOCH 600 is designed to be ergonomic, intuitive, and practicalor both experienced and novice ultrasonic inspectors.

Intuitive User InterfaceThe EPOCH 600 user interace is based on the industry approvedEPOCH 1000 Series imaging faw detector. The EPOCH 600

combines a simple menu structure or instrument settings, calibration and sotware eature adjustment, with the EPOCHbrand’s hallmark direct-access key approach or critical inspectionunctions such as gain and gate adjustment, screen reeze, andle save. Supported in multiple languages, the EPOCH 600 userinterace is intuitive or any level o operator.

Portable Design for All Inspection EnvironmentsThe EPOCH 600 is designed or use in nearly any inspectionenvironment, rom bench top testing in a laboratory to extremeoutdoor and hazardous conditions. Designed or IP rating in eitherknob (IP66) or navigation pad (IP67) congurations, and testedto very high environmental and reliability standards, the EPOCH600 allows users in any inspection environment to eel condentin both the perormance and durability o the instrument. Theinstrument is tested or vibration, shock, explosive atmosphere, and wide temperature ranges. And with a battery lie to exceed12 hours, the EPOCH 600 is the perect solution or remoteinspection locations.

Simple and Durable Operation

Vibrant Full VGA Display

The EPOCH 600 eatures a ull VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolu-tion display. The horizontal design o the EPOCH 600 optimizesthe A-scan size and readability on this high quality display. Builtwith transfective technology, this VGA display provides excel-lent clarity in indoor, low lighting conditions using its powerulbacklight, as well as in direct sunlight by using the ambient lightas a pseudo-backlight.

The EPOCH 600 provides excellent quality ultrasonic peror-mance. Based on the same digital architecture as the EPOCH XT,LTC and EPOCH 1000 Series, the EPOCH 600 provides fexible, powerul pulsing and receiving eatures to accommodate theneeds o most faw detection inspections.

Pulser/Receiver

The EPOCH 600 comes standards with powerul faw detectioncapabilities, such as:

• PerectSquare™ tunable square wave pulser• Digital high dynamic range receiver• Eight 100% digital lter sets• Auto or manually adjustable PRF rom 10 Hz to 2000 Hz• Pulser voltage rom 100 V to 400 V• Amplitude resolution to ± 0.25%• Five customizable digital measurements

Optimized Access to Powerful Features

KnobThe adjustment knob on the EPOCH600 is used along with the CHECKand ESC keys to adjust parametervalues in either coarse or ne incre-

ments. You have the ability to lockthe knob to prevent accidental pa-rameter value changes during an in-spection. This conguration providessmooth value slewing or customerswho preer adjusting parameters us-ing a knob. The knob congurationis designed to meet the requirementso IP66.

Navigation PadThe EPOCH 600 navigation pad is ahallmark eature o the EPOCH fawdetectors. The up and down arrowson the navigation pad are used or

coarse parameter adjustment, andthe let and right arrows or neadjustment. The navigation pad alsocontains additional unctions andrequently used parameters such asgain, save, and the CHECK and ESCkeys. The navigation pad congura-tion is designed to meet the require-ments o IP67.

Navigation You Are Comfortable WithIn order to accommodate dierent user needs and preerences, the EPOCH 600 is available intwo hardware congurations: one with an adjustment knob and the other with a navigation areaon the keypad. The adjustment knob and the arrow keys on the navigation pad are responsible orparameter adjustment and value slewing.

Standard Software Features

Dynamic DAC/TVG: Calculates signal amplitude as a percent-age or decibel level compared to a DAC curve or a reerenceecho amplitude xed at a time-varied gain. DAC versions includeASME, ASME 3, JIS, and Custom. Also includes several key ea-tures: dynamically adjustable DAC curves, switchable DAC andTVG views, and custom DAC warning curves.

DGS/AVG: This faw sizing technique allows echo signals to beevaluated with a DGS/AVG diagram associated to a particulartype o probe and material. The DGS/AVG diagram illustrates therelationships between echo height, faw size, and distance romthe transducer.

Curved surface correction: Corrects sound path inormation whenusing an angle beam transducer to circumerentially inspect acurved surace or either tubular or bar inspections.

Optional Software Features

AWS D1.1 and D1.5: Provides a dynamic refector indicationrating or various AWS weld inspection applications. This allowsmore ecient inspections by eliminating manual calculations.

Template Storage: Allows on-screen comparison o a livewaveorm with a saved reerence waveorm. Saved templates canbe dynamically toggled on and o with a single key press or ast

waveorm comparison. Gain adjustment eature allows eachsaved template a unique base gain or inspections requiringvarying sensitivity levels. Excellent or spotweld analysis and otherapplications.

API 5UE: Allows deect sizing according to API RecommendedPractice 5UE. Uses the Amplitude Distance Dierential Technique(ADDT) to measure the size o potential deects during the prove-up process o OCTG pipe. The measurement process is simpleand repeatable since all ADDT variables are captured rom a PeakMemory envelope.

Waveform Averaging: This eature allows the live A-scan view torepresent an average o successively acquired A-scans. Waveormaveraging improves signal-to-noise ratio when static faws are

detected. Averaging in 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, and 32X.

GageView™ Pro

The EPOCH 600 is ully compatible with our PC interace pro-gram, GageView™ Pro. You can download inspection data, reviewmeasurements on a PC, export measurements and calibrationdata to common spreadsheet programs, back up calibration andinspection data rom the instrument, and perorm basic operationssuch as instrument rmware upgrades and screen captures.

Data Management

The EPOCH 600 allows several methods o storing, archiving andreporting inspection and calibration data. The instrument eaturesup to 50,000 points o onboard memory, augmented by an ad-ditional 2 GB o removable memory. It is also ully compatiblewith Olympus NDT’s PC interace program, GageView™ Pro. Withquick le setup unctions and fexible data management, loggingand reporting inspection data is simple and ecient.

Data Logging and PC InterfacingData Logger

The EPOCH 600 eatures on onboard data logger or calibrationand inspection le storage. The instrument comes standard withtwo primary les types: calibration (CAL) and incremental (INC)les. CAL les allows you to save a virtually unlimited number o parameter setups or ast and easy recall to live settings. INC lesstore multiple pieces o inspection data under a single le nameor downloading and reporting by inspection.

The onboard data logger can be enhanced to eature ull corro-sion-style data logger le types through the Expanded Dataloggersotware option. This option includes the ollowing data le types:sequential, sequential with custom point, 2-D grid, 2-D grid withcustom point, 3-D grid, boiler, 2-D EPRI.

MicroSD and Printing

The EPOCH 600 utilizes 2 GB MicroSD memory cards or bothonboard and removable memory. Through removable memory, you are able to store screen images in bitmap ormat or easyreporting, as well as exporting current or saved measurement andcalibration data in .csv ormat. A second 2 GB MicroSD card ismounted to the PC board inside the instrument, and is respon-

sible or all onboard data storage. In the event the instrument isdamaged beyond repair, this MicroSD card can be removed at anauthorized service center, allowing the operator to recover criticaldata rom the damaged instrument.

Along with removable memory, the EPOCH 600 is compatiblewith PCL5 USB printers. This allows you to print inspectionreports directly rom the unit in the eld without the need or a PCor external memory card reader.
