FLOWER AND CANDLE DEDICATIONS FOR 2012
The Altar Guild is taking orders for flowers and candles for 2012. This is a beautiful and thoughtful way to celebrate, honor, and remember those in our lives who mean so much to us.
The candle and flowers signup sheets for 2012 will be posted on the bulletin board across from the church office. Please remember that these are done on a first come – first serve basis. Place your order now or you may call Marsha at 256-571-2300. If a flower date you would like is already spoken for, look at that same date on the candle list.
Rodney’s bills the Sunday altar flowers to each individ-ual.
The candles dedications are $10.00 per date and are pay-able to the church. We appreciate your payment before dedication date so the church’s records and your year-end statement are correct. This helps Martha mark your donation(s) properly and promptly. Please make your check payable to Epiphany and note that it is for candles and for what date.

ALL SAINTS’ DAY ALTAR FLOWERS All Saints Day is celebrated on Sunday, November 6. The Altar Guild is taking orders for the dedications which appear in both the 8am and 10:30am bulletins
This dedication is a beautiful way to remember those saints who have gone on before us; mother, father, brother, sister, child, or a special friend.
A dedication form is on the counter in the church office. Each dedication is $5.00. We appreciate your payment before dedication date so the church’s records and your year-end statement are correct.
To put in your dedication, please call the church office.
Poinsettias for Christmas 2011
The Altar Guild is taking dedications for red Poinsettias. We will need 20 to decorate the church for Christmas. Each poinsettia plant is $20.00.
Dedication forms are on the counter in the church office. We appreciate your payment when you sign up or no later than December 26th, so it can be processed for year-end.
This dedication is a beautiful way to honor those people who are special in our lives and to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus born so long ago in a stable and under a starry sky.
If you have any questions please see Marsha Babb or call her at 256-571-2300.
If you would like to join the choir for Advent and Christmas or are considering singing with us every Sunday, come to our rehearsals Wednesday evenings at 6:30 or Sunday mornings at 9:30. Wonderful music has been chosen for the liturgical seasons approaching and all voices are welcome. Come and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Greetings my dear Epiphany family,
The season has changed and what beautiful autumn weather we have experienced. The briskness of the early mornings and the warmth of the bright afternoon sun serves to quicken our pace and enliven our tempera-ment. I must say that autumn is my favorite season of the year.
November is a family kind of month. Memories of long ago Thanksgivings with turkey and gravy, fresh warm apple or pumpkin pie, as well as pick-ing up pecans in Clayhatchee. These treasured thoughts continually remind me of the joy of being alive. And be-cause I am alive and flourishing I be-gin once again to have a feeling of gratitude for the life that Christ has given me. I have received so much more than I have ever received. God and neighbor have reached out to me far more than I reach out to them.
The matrix of stewardship comes full circle once again in my mind. How do I repay God for the abundant grace I receive? No amount of money or time will repay what I might consider a debt. All I have is ordinary human models of expressing gratitude.
Foremost, is my tithe. While I often times believe that it is impossible, experience tells me that it is not. And even though I would love to spend that money on family, travel, food and my own leisure, I have found it much more enriching to give to my church and Lord. I don’t give the portion that is due God, because with the blessings that I have experienced in my life that would be everything. I have also discovered that giving freely has given me a much more relaxed and enjoyable life style.
My friends, life is so good. I have not lost a thing sharing it with my God and my friends, especially this time of year.
Blessing to you all
Each of us should have our 2012 Pledge Card by the time you receive this newsletter. Just a few notes to mention before you say a prayer as you sign this year’s card.
Please give from your heart. Pledging is vital to all to keep Epiphany’s minis-try strong. We depend on each other.
Please get your pledge card in by November 7. Even if you are unable to pledge this year, just write Zero on your card and send it back. This will avoid us calling you regarding your intention.

GOOD NEWSIn less than a week we have all the money we need to purchase 50 chairs for the Commons Building. They will be here and ready to use for the Brotherhood of Saint Andrews – Epiphany Eats In Steak Dinner – scheduled for the evening of Thursday, November 3.
What we lack now is the flooring for the Commons Building. We have just re-ceived a gift of a $1000 for that purpose, but we need approximately $6,500 more to have the flooring purchased and in-stalled. If five or six people can come together we can have the floor installed very quickly and be pretty much finished with the commons part of the building (appliances are covered and will arrive over the next few months).
Thanks everyone.
A New Class With Fr. Bill—The Broken Heart
Father Bill will be moderating a class on Robert Benson's book, The Body Broken. The class will meet on Thursday mornings at 10AM in his office beginning on November 3rd. The book is free to all participants. Just show up.
ROBERT BENSON COMING FOR CAROL JEAN RIVES FORUM
Robert Benson, from Christ Cathedral in Nashville, Tennes-see, will lead us on a two day retreat beginning on Friday eve-ning, November 11 and continuing on Saturday, November 12 in the Commons Building. This will be the first offering of the Carol Jean Rives Forum on Spirituality and will be our first conference in the new Commons Building. Tickets for $30 and are available in the office. The fee includes a conti-nental breakfast and lunch on Saturday. The conference will be limited to 40 people. Scholarships are available.
Through his work, Mr. Benson demonstrates how prayer can enter the fabric of one’s existence so that life itself becomes prayer. He has pub-lished more than a dozen books about searching for the sacred in the midst of our everyday lives. His writings have been critically acclaimed in the New York Times, USA Today and other periodicals.

EYC
United Thank OfferingNovember 6
It is that time again. Time to fill those blue boxes with your coins and blessings.
Fill a box or write a check to ECW and place them in the offering plate Sunday, November 6
The UTO offering goes to support projects that address compelling human needs and/or expand mission and ministry both domestic and world-wide. Please make any checks payable to ECW as we cannot send per-sonal checks to the Diocese.
Epiphany has been a strong contributor to the UTO fund and we are proud of our participation in years past. Look for the blue boxes and envelopes as you come into the church. Take a minute and read the sides of the boxes and receive the blessing there for you.

The ECW Fall Conference in Montgomery was fantas-tic. The Reverend Elizabeth Wheatley Jones was our speaker. She led us into a marvelous discussion on mis-sion and encouraged us to find our passion as defined as where our deep gladness and the world’s deep hun-ger meet. Joanna and I will gladly share more. Just ask us. By the way, 2012 Fall Conference will be hosted by Christ Church in Albertville. Epiphany will have a ma-jor role so keep tuned to the newsletter and bulletins for details.
I wish to thank Joanna Brooks for her 2 years of service as Mountain Convocation Coordinator. She did a su-perb job representing us on the diocesan board. Her position is now filled by Pat Clanton from Calvary in Oneonta. I now serve as your convocation secretary and also devotions chair for the board. There are many activities coming up…so keep checking the newsletter, bulletins and the ECW website…alabamaecw.org… for more details.
EYC Sponsoring Christmas Coalition Family
The EYC will be sponsoring six children thru Marshall County Christmas Coalition. We have raised some money by raffling the quilt. Thank you to all who have purchased tickets and congratulations to Nancy Brennan on winning the quilt. We will gladly welcome donations toward this effort or stop by Shelly's office to find out a specific item you may donate for one of the children.
Epiphany will be hosting Happening # 60 March 2-4, 2012.
Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. Happening is based on the Cursillo® model, but in a format relevant to high school students. We will be host-ing 75-100 youth and will be responsible for all meals and snacks for the weekend. We will also be providing transpor-tation to and from our homes for the youth to shower on Sat-urday & Sunday mornings that weekend. Happening is a life changing experience for youth. This is our opportunity to help the Happeners experience the Holy Spirit through our hospitality.
Epiphany Christmas Float (all ages)The Guntersville Christmas parade will be on December 10 at 5:00pm. We will once again be entering a float in the parade. We had a great time last year and would love to have more people involved this year. The theme of the parade is "A Story Book Christmas". We have a truck and trailer available but will need a driver. We will also need a small generator (preferably a quiet one) to power the Christmas lights. We plan to return to Epiphany after the parade for refreshments and fellowship.
