The FBM KLCI index gained 8.62 points or 0.52% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.45% to 14298.5 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.02% to 1128.37 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.23% to 7591.72 points. The market traded within a range of 9.77 points between an intra-day high of 1657.77 and a low of 1648.00 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include AAX-WA, BORNOIL, TRIVE, SANICHI, AAX, VIVOCOM, HSI-C21, BORNOIL-WC, MBSB and MEXTER-WA. Trading volume decreased to 1006.91 mil shares worth RM1220.76 mil as compared to Friday’s 1130.95 mil shares worth RM1133.13 mil.
Leading Movers were BAT (+150 sen to RM54.00), MAXIS (+15 sen to RM6.10), SKPETRO (+3 sen to RM1.46), CIMB (+9 sen to RM4.40) and AMMB (+8 sen to RM4.47). Lagging Movers were ASTRO (-1 sen to RM2.86), PETCHEM (-2 sen to RM6.55), HLBANK (-4 sen to RM13.16), DIGI (-1 sen to RM4.77) and IHH (-1 sen to RM6.60). Market breadth was nega-tive with 338 gainers as compared to 363 losers.
The KLCI closed higher at 1654.84 points, taking cue from gains in US market last Friday. The performance of our local bourse was in tandem with most of our regional peers.
