GeorgiaFIRST Financials Single Sign-On Troubleshooting Job Aid
If a user inputs their institution credentials correctly, the institution sends the following attributes
about the user to GeorgiaFIRST:
• Institution (aka Company)
• Employee ID (aka EMPLID)
• Last Name
Common Reasons for SSO Issues
• Missing Employee IDs in institution directory
• Last Name (Surname) Inconsistencies
• Marital status name change
• Hyphenated Names
• Suffixes
To access PeopleSoft Financials using Single Sign On, users should first navigate to
https://www.usg.edu/gafirst-fin/ and select the desired link on the right side of the page.

1. The user will see the picker page and selects their institution.
If the user is redirected to the financials login page (see below) then the Security

If the user does not have an account or the account is locked the user will see the
above page or they will see the “invalid user… or password” error message. Verify
that a valid UserID exists in PeopleSoft and that the account is not locked.
If the user account has not been created, have the user self-register by clicking the
Register For My Account link shown below or have the Security Admin create the
account.
3. User has more than one PeopleSoft user account:
Contact ITS Helpdesk to request these accounts be cleaned up.
4. Password issues:
These should be handled by each institution since SSO is using local network
credentials. If the user forgets their password, local support staff will have to update
their identity management system with a new password.
5. Can the user access OneUSG Connect using SSO?

No - give the employee this URL and instruct them to provide the results to the ITS
Helpdesk to be routed to the Shared Services Center.
https://idp-demo-prod.bor.usg.edu/
This “demo” page will provide the attributes sent from the institution. The results will
be compared to OneUSG Connect to determine corrective action.
Yes - employee can access OneUSG Connect but not GeorgiaFIRST via SSO
Verify the PeopleSoft user account
• Make sure that only 1 unlocked account exists for a given EMPLID per
institution
Verify Last Name in Personal Data
• Refer discrepancies to ITS Helpdesk
6. Integration Broker issues
Integration Broker updates PS_PERSONAL_DATA in GeorgiaFIRST PeopleSoft
Financials with information from OneUSG Connect. If GeorgiaFIRST does not appear to
receive the personal data from OneUSG Connect then open a ticket with the ITS
Helpdesk to investigate the problem.

Setting Up Contractor (Non-Employee) Access
If you hire a contractor that is NOT an employee, the local Security Admin will need to manually
create their account and setup their User ID and password for accessing GeorgiaFIRST
Financials.
Non-employees will not be able to use single sign-on and will need to login using the Global
GeorgiaFIRST Financials option with the Financials User ID and password assigned by the local
Security Admin.
Go to https://www.usg.edu/gafirst-fin/
Look at available sign in options on the right and select Global GeorgiaFIRST
Financials button.
You will be taken to the GeorgiaFIRST Financials sign in page. Enter your financials
User ID that was provided to you by your Security Admin.
Security Audit Reminders
Your quarterly security review and annual recertification process will still require you to lock and
remove security roles for terminations, transfers, etc.
