How do I sign up?1. Student and parent will complete the online enrollment

process available on the summer program website – Please make sure that the student/parent selects the website for EOC SUMMER REMEDIATION. Available at:http://www.friscoisd.org/ly/parentsStudents/SummerCampsandPrograms.htm

2. For approval from the home campus before the end of the day on June 8, the student will take the acknowledgement form to his or her counselor on the home campus. Beginning June 11, the student must take the acknowledgement form to his or her home campus’ associate principal.

3. Upon approval, the student will be given further instructions to take the diagnostic pre-test and will be invited to attend the face to face tutoring available at the appropriate tutoring center (Heritage HS or Wakeland HS) beginning June 14.

4. The students’ home campus counselor or administrator will transmit the approval to the FISD curriculum & instruction office for processing into the Compass Learning system.

5. The student MUST attend a post-test session at the tutoring/mentoring center AND meet minimum standards on the subject area post-test in order to receive credit for the course.

What is this all about?Frisco ISD will provide remediation for students who do not meet the satisfactory score on the first administration of any STAAR EOC test.

Students have two primary options for remediation & credit recovery:•Compass Learning (www.compasslearningodyssey.com) and

available face-to-face tutoring at tutoring/mentoring centers.•Frisco ISD Summer School

FISD will staff mentoring centers with highly qualified teachers:•Wakeland HS – for students from WHS, FHS, LSHS•Heritage HS – for students from HHS, LHS, CHS

Transportation will be provided from each high school campus to the tutoring site (pickup at 1:30 and return at 6:20 each date). EOC Retest Students who do not meet minimum expectations on the subject area EOC test MUST take the EOC Retest or they will risk truancy charges being filed, per FISD regulations. Retest Dates (8:30AM - 12:30PM)

Costs:The FISD EOC Summer Remediation Program, including access to Compass Learning online is $125. The cost is the same for one or multiple classes. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch may qualify for reduced tuition, see your counselor for more information.Student Attendance:Attendance is mandatory for the STAAR EOC retake at the student’s assigned tutoring center on the specific day during July 9-13 as assigned by the subject needed for remediation.Tutoring Center Dates (2 PM to 6 PM Daily):Thursday, June 14 – Friday, June15Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22Monday, June 25 – Friday, June 29Monday, July 2; Thursday, July 5; Friday, July 6

Policies and ProceduresPolicies and procedures for the EOC summer remediation program are the same policies and procedures set forth in the FISD secondary code of conduct and student handbook - http://www.friscoisd.org/ly/parentsstudents/StudentHandbooks.htm, when the student is on Frisco ISD property, including FISD provided transportation. Any inappropriate and/or disruptive behavior or language or violation of the FISD responsible use policies will be appropriately referred to FISD administrators. Any such behavior may result in dismissal from the FISD EOC summer remediation program with no refund. In addition, students should:

• Put forth their best efforts• Anticipate the need to be

flexible

• Strive to complete all learning activities assigned by their mentor

• Demonstrate responsible behavior at all times

• Communicate respectfully with tutoring center staff and mentors at all times, especially when needing assistance

• Be an active participant in learning activities, regardless of the environment

By registering and submitting payment for the program, the parent and student acknowledge understanding of, and agreement to the policies and procedures outlined above and in the FISD secondary code of conduct and student handbook.

Details, Details, Details...Important Notice

Students are eligible to enroll in the EOC summer remediation program upon approval of their high school

counselor or administrator, after the campus-approved CIT process.

Students who DO NOT obtain a school official’s signature on the

acknowledgement form printed after completion of the entire enrollment

process in the online enrollment program will be denied the

opportunity to enroll in the Frisco ISD EOC summer remediation program.
