washed in water! But it’s not the water that breaks down the food stains, it’s something
else. Do you know what?

Lets start at the beginning.....
Enzymes are biological catalysts - catalysts are substances that increase the rate of chemical reactions without being used up.
Enzymes are also proteins that are folded into complex shapes that allow smaller molecules to fit into them
The place where these substrate molecules fit is called the active site.
Time to check on my washing... Now I know how it gets clean.
Who would have thought it, “Washing powder contains
enzymes that are responsible for cleaning the clothes!”
Oh No! The Chief is in the bath.. Where are the
clothes!
Trying to clean clothes? Well it
didn’t work, everything was still
dirty. You must have denatured the
enzymes somehow?
