• Upper Penitencia restored

from a degraded channel

to a braided channel with

floodplain, including native

habitat with a gravel

lenses for recharging

ground water.

• Native seed from the

same watershed was

propagated at a local

nursery and planted in the

Upper Penitencia

mitigation area, ensuring

the native genetic

diversity is preserved in

this watershed.

• Water-wise Planting

• Landscape designers

selected water-wise species

including a varied range of

perennials which all bloom

in varied colors, plug

grasses for the bioretention

facilities, and street trees

both evergreen and

deciduous such as Black

Oak and Western Redbud.

• Variable speed escalators

• The escalators inside the

station have two speed

settings. During its idle time

the speed is reduced to 1/3 to

minimize energy use. When

the sensor is triggered the

elevator speed increases to

its normal escalator speed.

This will save roughly

217kWh/yr.

• Solar Power

• The parking structure

has a 152kW system

offsetting half of the

parking structures

lighting and elevators

during daytime

operations.

• EV Car Charging Stations

• The parking structure has a 24

220volt electric car chargers.

These chargers have priority

parking on the first floor of the

garage. The chargers are

equipped with the –chargepoint+®

RFID card payment system.

• Recycled Water

In October 2019 the

Berryessa Station

Campus irrigation mains

were converted to

recycled water when the

mainline became

available, saving 148,356

Gallons of potable water

annually.
