Nature School for Homeschoolers

Did you know that children who spend time outdoors are more creative, curious, social, & content? Let nature be the catalyst in your child’s learning! Hands-on activities will supplement your child’s home-school experience and build your child’s knowledge of local ecology using inquiry, experiments, games & explora-tion. Parents are asked to volunteer 1-2 times during the session.

Nuts About Nature | Nature’s Playground

A preschooler’s mind is like a sponge! Get ready for kindergarten the natural way! Hands-on lessons in the fields & forests will build skills in literacy, the five senses, coordination, & social development. Nurture your child’s sense of wonder!

Each teacher at Nuts About Nature is a professional environmental educator who has experience working with very young children. Together, they bring a wide educational background to the program, such as music, yoga, ecology and children’s literature.

Nuts About Nature is a drop-off program. A parent volunteer is welcome for each class. Spots are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Children should come with the following: 1) appropriate clothing, rain gear and footwear; 2) a hat & mittens; & 3) a backpack containing a healthy, portable snack & a water bottle.

Lil’ Nature Kids (Ages 3-6)

Lil’ Nature Kids uses experienced, enthusiastic teachers to combine ecological concepts with developmentally appropriate skills and kindergarten readiness. Our preschool naturalists take small groups of children into a park for two hours to learn through stories, songs, art, exploration and imaginary play. The primary goal is to give children positive outdoor experiences, rain or shine, with teachers who direct the learning based the children’s interests. All classes are mixed age. Ratio of students to teachers is 4:1 or better. Children can be added for a pro-rated fee if space remains after the first day of class.
