Sustaining the natural environment is a global goal that must take root right here in our communities. Each individual has a role to play in ensuring healthy communities now, and in the future. We should not wait any longer for someone else, somewhere else, to accept the challenge of stewardship that most naturally belongs to each one of us.

For many generations, the local environment has been called upon to meet our needs. Now we’re calling on you to help the Community Foundation

fund projects that address environmental needs and opportunities. The Environmental Legacy Fund will help our communities remain ideal places to live – forever.

No gift is too small, anyone can contribute any amount to the Environmental Legacy Fund, at any time. Help sew the seeds for sustainable communities in your region - today. If not now, when?

The challenges we face – the future we want

People from all walks of life have the privilege of living in the region. The climate and spectacular scenery make residing here a dream for many more. Our communities continued desirablility and growth will make sustaining our natural areas ever more relevant, as this jewel is discovered by those wishing to share in its richness.

This is Canada’s Desert Country preservation of air and water quality are of paramount importance. The Okanagan-Similkameen Corridors provide for the health and well-being of local residents, as well as the biological diversity of our natural environments.

Ensuring our natural areas remain, and can sustain life, is an on-going challenge. Looking forward to a sustainable future, the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan has responded to that challenge with the creation of the Environmental Legacy Fund.

The national treasure that is the South Okanagan-Similkameen’s natural environment contributes to the quality of life and the economic activities of those of us who live in this unique and beautiful place.

The region is home to the vibrant municipalities of Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Princeton as well as, six district and four Okanagan Nations communities.

The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan is growing legacies to support agencies that provide services in our region. As a public foundation, we carefully invest donations - which are held in perpetuity and continue to grow. By effectively distributing earnings from the endowed funds, the Community Foundation responds to evolving needs and opportunities within the communities it serves. The Environmental Legacy Fund was established in 2006 to respond to residents growing interest in environmental sustainability. We hope to heighten understanding of how

important our area’s unique natural habitats are, not just as sanctuaries for wildlife, but also as places for people to respectfully enjoy. The Community Foundation is growing a legacy to help achieve the sustainable future of our environment. We invite residents to invest in the natural environment we wish to leave to future generations.

The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan helps donors to

give back - forever - in the ways that matter most to them
