H. Learning that encourages students to develop skills of initiative, responsibility, leadership and use of creativity. Usually linked to the worlds of business or vocational education but can be cross curricular link numeracy/literacy.

York Travel & Tourism VisitOn Monday, 8th October, 30 Travel and Tourism students travelled to York City for a fantastic action packed day, which began with a tour of the ‘Superbreak’
holiday company offices and ended with a trip to the National Railway Museum. Led by Miss Henstock and Mr Haigh, students experienced what being a tourist
in another city was like by visiting the Tourist Information Centre and seeking local information about things to do. Everyone dined together and there was
even time for a spot of shopping (girls! ). Students commented on how beautiful York was and how nice it was to experience another city.
The main educational purpose of the visit was to discover career opportunities at Superbreak in order to complete their Unit 6 assignments ‘Preparing for
Employment in Travel and Tourism’. Students were on absolute best behaviour and asked lots of suitable questions in order them to get the best grades in their
work… distinction plus here we all come

Catering AdvisorsEnterprise Club have been working with the school caterers to discuss potential
menu changes for Carlton Bolling students.
Student carried out marketing research amongst students and staff to share with
the caterers. They also spent an afternoon sampling new menu items….

Coca-Cola Factory
Wakefield2012
28 Year 12 Business students attended the Coca-Cola Factory in Wakefield, led by Miss Henstock and Mr Gough. Students were kitted out
in work clothes and headsets to enable them to your the Coca-Cola factory and see what goes on behind the Coca-Cola scenes. A talk was
also delivered by a marketing professional at Coca-Cola, which will enable learners to complete their Unit 3 Coursework – ‘Introduction to
Marketing’. The day was a great success and commented on how much the visit has helped them to gain a better understanding of Marketing in a
real life company.
