Freedom Auto Detail is a family owned and operated business by Rick and Kerry Wright. The Wright’s started the business four years ago in their garage with a small shop vacuum, a trouble light and a spot steam vacuum. Each winter that passed, it became clear that the business would need a better building if it were to continue services during the cold and wet seasons. Through a recommendation from their banker, the Wright’s found Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation. Teresa McAnerney, Northeast Kansas

Enterprise Facilitation Board Member Profile
Background: Pelton has been a member of Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation since its beginning. She attended the Economic Development conference when Enterprise Facilitation was introduced to Kansas. During that time, she served as a Jackson County Commissioner and thought it would be impossible for Jackson County to afford the program until Gary Satter suggested that five counties join forces and request a grant from the state of Kansas, and the rest is history. After 34 years of working for Jackson County, Pelton left to become the Financial Manager for Homestead Affordable Housing, Inc., a non-profit community housing development organization. They partner with rural cities and counties along with Kansas Housing
Resources Corp., USDA Rural Development and FHL Bank Topeka to develop new affordable housing for low income seniors in rural Kansas communities. The company also has grants available for first time homebuyers and seniors that need emergency or essential home repairs. “I believe Enterprise Facilitation’s goal of growing success from within our own population, their success is our success,” Pelton said. Teresa McAnerney, Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitator appreciates Pelton’s contributions to Enterprise Facilitation. “Lois may not be able to make it to all the monthly meetings, but she always responds to my e-mails with helpful information for clients and introduces me to individuals in the community.

Enterprise Facilitator, was very informative and proactive in facilitating the process by which we obtained funds to build a new building and buy better, more effective equipment. McAnerney was extremely helpful in leading us through the process with the Glacial Hills Rural Business Development loan.
This bitterly cold winter was a breeze for the Wright’s, as they were able to continue their speed and quality of work through the whole winter season with their
new facility.
