PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9 MP1 Entity Relationship Diagrams
This document provides an overview of the PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9 MP1 entity relationship diagrams (ERD) and discusses how to:
Install ERDs
Access ERDs
View ERDs
Understanding PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9 MP1 Entity Relationship DiagramsAn entity-relationship diagram (ERD) is a data modeling technique that creates a graphical representation of the entities, and the relationships between entities, within an information system. The PeopleSoft data models are represented in the form of entity relationship diagrams.
An entity is any person or thing, real or abstract, about which information is stored. Relationships represent the business rules between entity types. A relationship shows cardinality and optionality in both directions and can be with either one entity or another.
HRMS 8.9 MP1 ERDs show all the tables in the PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9 MP1 database and the relationships between them. This information can be useful in identifying the relationships and dependencies between various components of the HRMS system and can help you understand the HRMS application better.
For more information about ERDs, search for the document entitled “What is an ERD” on PeopleSoft Customer Connection.
Installing the Entity Relationship DiagramsThe ERD is delivered as a project containing:

Accessing the Entity Relationship DiagramsPeopleSoft provides ERDs at two levels:
Each component in the system.
Each folder in the Data Model menu, through which you access ERDs.
The ERDs at the folder level are the grouping of all the components or sub-folders in the folder.
To access the ERDs in your demo database:
1. Log on to the portal as a user that has access to the ERD menu navagation.
2. In the menu, select Data Models.
3. Drill down through the product and functional area to the ERD that you want to view:
To access a component-level ERD, select the component.
To access a folder-level ERD, select This Folder ERD at the desired folder level.
When you select the ERD menu item at the component level or folder level, the system opens a separate window and launches the ERD as a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Note. To access ERDs, you must install Adobe Acrobat Reader if it is not already installed.
This graphic illustrates accessing both component-level ERDs (underlined menu items) and folder-level ERDs (This Folder ERD for each folder):

Viewing Entity Relationship DiagramsWhen viewing the ERDs, you can use the standard Adobe Acrobat Reader controls to adjust the size of the viewing window and to zoom in or out on the diagram.
