    EDUCATION: A GREAT TOOL FOR PEOPLEDEVELOPMENT

    Education is a fundamental element for the optimaldevelopment of both individuals and communities of a

    country. Although there are educational institutions inColumbian high quality, most of them are not accessible tothe mass of the population. Moreover, the coverage isinsufficient and, in general, the quality is very low, whichmakes the process of education can not develop even in anacceptable manner. Taking into account, the demands of the

    globalized world in which we live. The situation is quitecritical, because a significant percentage of the populationcan only access to public education, which is awful. This is abig problem in our country, it is the main cause of mosteconomic and social problems we have, and can be due tomany others. Thus, the poor education provided at Columbianot only represents a current problem of great importance,but also represents a potential problem that most likely willaffect us in the future.

    The statistics published in the institutions that compete thesubject of education in Columbian, show the serious crisisbeing experienced by formal education. According to somestudies published by some magazine (s) (DINERO), the 5827

    public schools rated 63% of the total, only 7.6% are found inmuch higher level and higher, while 64.1% are in the middleand lower levels. This coupled with the 4 million children andyoung people who do not attend school, the lack of coverage,displacement or violence and the fact that 79.4% of thepopulation of school age have to go to public education, is oneof the biggest problems facing today's Colombia.

    Moreover, much of the importance of education lies in the role

    it has on the construction of civic culture and communitydevelopment in general. In other words, we tend to expectmuch more of this man who is educated, that he who has noteducation or very little. To start, following a rational attitude,most people who are educated do not because they pretendto be thieves, or rapists, or thugs, but because they want toachieve their individual goals by socially acceptable means.Also, if it is true that some people with high levels ofeducation, for example, stealing state property, much lesscontrollable even people who have no(not) education arecorrupt because they are not just for vanity, but by their ownignorance and lack of opportunity, are more vulnerable tocommit injustice. That is,lawlessness, lack of opportunity, and injustices that arehighlighted in the list of causes of the problems mentioned

    above and many others also have low quality background inpublic education and the inequity in distribution thereof.

    So, if we improved and we extended the Colombian publiceducation in our country there would be more justice andequity, and therefore more peace. When people are educated,it is natural to gain status in society for the merit which meanstheir knowledge, thus a doctor sees as its necessarycounterpart to another doctor, regardless of other conditionsthey live both. Likewise, when most people have a good levelof education, opportunities are given a more equitablebecause it does not exist so markedly the factors that make apoor person cannot access high office.     One time(Once), I made myself one question, why must we

    study? So that, many people said to me (I should ) become alawyer, a teacher, a doctor or(something else) someone in life,others advise(me to) "Go to school, get good grades, and lookfor a safe, secure job." My own opinion is the truth(none senseat all); it is difficult to believe we have that to prepare us five,six, seven or eight years to obtain a title at the university afterto get a job in order to earn money. But I have talked withprofessional people who have graduated, they have worked intheir careers, however they possess financial problems. Themain difficulty is to manage the money; they said the wage is

    not enough. I want to write about it.

    Here is where(the ploblem is) is the problem, money theschool only we teach us academic topics, to be employeesand not finance, the government must invest in financialeducation to eradicate poverty, which is the ability tounderstand finance more specifically, it refers to anindividual's ability to make informed judgments and effective

    decisions about the use and management of their money.I suggest that the educative institutions could take the ideaabout finance for implementing in the classroom, in that wayin order to guide to the students in a financial future and to beentrepreneurs. It is not easy to apply financial education inlife, but little to(by) little it could improve with habits, just wehave to begin knowing to manage 50 pesos and to become itin 100 pesos and so on.Maybe I am not the best giving advises, but it would be a
