Smith and Smith Commentary on the 1st Book of 1 EnochMy purpose here is to point out why I regard this collection as apocryphal literature, and not as true scripture. Too many Christians can't tell the difference, and don't want to know. The result is that they treat false prophecy and true prophecy as much the same. Errors and bloodshed result from this ignorance. Because many Christians have taken this book seriously enough to teach from it about angels, spirits, fallen angels, the other realm, the realm of the dead, Hell, the future, the truth, and the 'imminent return of Christ', they contribute to the needless confusion about spiritual truth. It needs exposing, all over again, in every generation, and the best way to do that is to get you to read for yourself how it departs from what true prophets revealed. This is a extract of a draft of the commentary on all 5 books of 1Enoch, soon to be available, from http://sites.google.com/site/freecommentary 5 other commentaries and many other studies are available there as a free zip download.

1 Enoch

Other writings, '2 Enoch' and '3 Enoch', are candidates for inclusion as 'The writings of Enoch', such as 'the Book of Giants'. This is a problem in itself 1 Enoch merges too easily with too much similar apocryphal (not truly scriptural) literature. Enoch has also influenced the later apocrypha, adding to the confusion. Because the Flood era figures as part of the contents (e.g. chapters 2, 6, 10), it cannot be Enoch (born over a thousand years before) describing it! If it is not Enoch, why haven't we knowledge of such a prophet as did write it? O.K. Enoch might have written it 'from heaven', but why hasn't the world heard of such a stupendous departure from normality, as this scripture descending from heaven ready-inscribed? Why did he wait two and a half thousand years before sending down his message? Why has he stopped his prolific output? no-one has heard from him for a couple of millennia! Joh 3:13 And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he that descended out of heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heaven. Book Book Book Book Book 1 2 3 4 5 The Watchers (Chapters 1-36) The Parables or Similitudes of Enoch (Chapters 37-71) The Astronomical Book of the Heavenly Luminaries (Chapters 72-82) Dreams Visions (Chapters 83-90) The Epistle of Enoch (Chapters 91-108)

One of the first things to note about this particular 5-part collection of pseudipigrapha (written in the name of a famous personality, but by someone else) is that almost no-one has treated it as original prophetic scripture, and they still don't. Neither the Jews nor the early church ever officially accepted Enoch into the canon of scripture. The early rabbis mostly ignored it, which is a telling indictment, since they were the ones around at the time when it made its appearance. They were in the best position to know who had produced it and how. Jesus and the apostles did not treat it as scripture, but they quoted extensively from other scripture. Jesus could have called himself the 'Elect and Righteous one predicted by Enoch', but didn't. Paul could have proven his points by appealing to Enoch, but avoids it in favour of all the accepted prophets. The few quotes from Enoch (Jude and perhaps Peter) point up this disparity so clearly that many doubt Jude because he quotes from Enoch. The dates put on the various parts differ, and belong to after 400BC through to the time of Christ, no-where near Enoch's time. The texts show signs of repeated editing, additions and amalgamations, as if no-one involved in their writing considered them word perfect sacred originals. The Rabbis didn't canonise them, and anyone who clings to claims that they are true prophecy is demonstrating a disrespect for the nature and history of true scripture, and a blind

respect for evil scripture. But the test is in you reading the internal evidence. As you read, simply ask whether you can agree that what you read does not measure up to true words from God. No public miracles accompany the text from their real authors. It is not as if we can recognise the authors as famous names like Nostradamus or Rasputin or Alexander the Great. The best the authors can do is to claim to have been inspired by the spirit of 'Enoch' after thousands of years of silence. They have no proof that such a spirit was not from the Devil. The next thing to notice is about the content of the books. While imitating religious themes, they none-the-less depart from the consistent themes of scripture. It is not the purpose of the Bible to give a treatise on observational astronomy (Book 3). If the observations outlined are accurate, it is commonly available knowledge, not revelation. If they are inaccurate, they discredit God. If they are revealed truths, you would expect them to align with modern science, not the pseudo-science of past centuries ('7 heavens'). It is not God's intention to be uncompromisingly harsh to sinners and to play favourites with the Chosen People quite the opposite, as history turned out soon after these works were penned It was condemnation for religious Israel and forgiveness of idolatrous Gentiles. Enoch turns out to be too Jewish, self-righteous and judgemental. The Bible certainly doesn't want Sheol (the Grave) to be expanded into a real and conscious other world. Everyone else does! But the God of the Bible simply treats 'dead and buried' as dead and buried until the resurrection. Enoch is one possible exception to human death, but that does not validate a whole other (imagined and proofless) spiritual realm of the deadliving. It is not the will of God to give a dissertation on fallen angel dynamics (Book 1), nor to propose mysterious dreams without giving fair hints about the exact interpretation (Book 4). The Bible would be full of such things from other prophets, if so. The other prophets do not take up the themes of this supposedly 'very very early' collection of prophecies and this goes right against the consistent progressive revelation of true prophecy. It almost proves that the opposite is true that it is the fraudulent prophets, of a much later era, who take their lead from the earlier prophets, expanding on what Moses and Isaiah etc left unexplained Nephilim, Noah's time, Enoch, the Son of Man, or the 'heavenly watchers' from Daniel...

Book 1: Watchers? 300BC Based upon... Dan 4:13-24 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from heaven. (14) He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches. (15) Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth: (16) let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him. (17) The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the lowest of men. (18) This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation; but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee. (19) Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was

stricken dumb for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine adversaries. (20) The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth; (21) whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the birds of the heavens had their habitation: (22) it is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong; for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. (23) And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; (24) this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king: Dan 8:13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burntoffering, and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? [The 'watchers' in Daniel are the good-guys, and Gabriel and Michael (archangels of Yahweh) are mentioned. The watchers in Enoch are the bad-guys.] Job 7:20 If I have sinned, what do I unto thee, O thou watcher of men? Why hast thou set me as a mark for thee, So that I am a burden to myself? A 'Watcher' is also used in the Bible as a sentinel, stationed in a tower, watching for runners bringing news, or for armies attacking, or for the dawn, etc. 'Alert and watchful angels' is one translation of these holy watchers from heaven, but only because of Ezekiel's visions of the chariot of fire (below); however, 'eyes' can be used of gleaming facets of gem-stones. Eze 1:18 As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about. Eze 10:12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. Rev 4:8 And the four living creatures, having each one of them six wings, are full of eyes round about and within: and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come. In addition there is a resonance in wording between several prophets Jer 1:11-12 Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond-tree. 12 Then said Jehovah unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I watch over my word to perform it. ['almond-tree' sounds like 'watching', in Hebrew] Zec 4:2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have seen, and, behold, a candlestick all of gold, with its bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps thereon; there are seven pipes to each of the lamps, which are upon the top thereof; Zec 3:9 For, behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; upon one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. Rev 1:20 the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks are seven churches. Now in these Biblical prophecies you can see an intricately interwoven set of prophetic images

(trees, lamps, gems, sevens, times, stump, watchmen, rags-to-riches). This is important, because lesser literature can only imitate the images, producing impressively spectacular and scriptural-sounding wording, but it can not imitate the mysteries hidden within the images, wording and prophecies -- such as the surprise giving of the gospel to the Gentiles, the AntiChrist overcoming the saints; Christ overcoming the antiChrist; the unexpected resurrection of Christ. Millennia are needed for the prophecies to become clearer, and while Daniel and Ezekiel are even now still treated as true prophecy, the coming of Christ, and the consequent exposition of the gospel, has overtaken 'the Book of Enoch' (not to mention the science of astronomy). Imitation imagery is a degradation of prophecy, and is empty. Enoch's 'imagery' (more like pseudo-science and mysticism) runs with the idea that stars are like eyes, always 'watching' down upon mankind, and that stars are angels. He is not talking in metaphor, but in mystical identity between the two. The stars do not consort with one another, each being fixed ('stationed') in its own place, but the planets, 'wandering stars', leave their stations to join with others in a promiscuous and therefore condemnable fashion. Such is the imagery, which writers of the New Testament have to run with and counter. Christ, for instance, said that the angels do not marry, and the Pharisees said 'that deceiver ('wanderer') said he will rise again', and Jude condemns the false prophets with the image of wandering into error, deceiving the true, with Peter and James and Paul and John also adept at turning the focus back onto Christ, by invoking heavenly metaphors.

Chapter 1The first 6 verses are the most appealingly true, perhaps because they are true, or even original truth, or perhaps because they simply copy existing true prophecy. False prophecies usually take their point of entry at some recognised commonly accepted truth, usually a snippet from existing prophecy. This generally does not last long, and wild departures from scripture follow soon after. (Cults, beginning with the Bible but departing from mainline faith, is a similar phenomenon.) If this were a genuine fragment from the long-lost prophecies from before the Great Flood, then that could explain why Jude quotes them as if true. But the simple historical fact is that these verses existed in Jude's time and were widely considered as possibly true. It does not reflect well on Jude's discernment. Apostles are not perfect, but Jude may not belong as wordperfect scripture. Jude has long been on the suspect list, almost wholly because he quotes from this chapter, which most consider to be the work of a fraudulent spirit. But we will have something more positive to say on this after reading all of Enoch. 1:1 The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be 1:2 living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said -Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, Num 24:3-4 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, And the man whose eye was closed saith; 4 He saith, who heareth the words of God, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, Falling down, and having his eyes open: Here is the point where you need to discern the style and content of both true and false scripture. Which one stole the words from which one, or did God give them both the same words? You can decide, based on a mature acquaintance with true prophecy. which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come. This is written from an earthly perspective, as if still on earth, in the flesh, as in 14:2, and relying upon revelation as a 'seer'. Enoch is supposed to have been taken by God Himself. Was he merely placed in some Limbo of continued blindness and exile from God that he has to talk like a Buddha or Balaam? Other parts of the book describe the Flood as history, not prophecy, which is a time when Enoch was not around. Therefore, the whole Book cannot be justified by this one feasible-sounding part of it. Since Jude lends credence to this part of it, we need to know that the rest of the book does not logically conform to this verse. It is a mistake to say: 'This chapter sounds good to me, so Enoch is a good book'.

1:3 Concerning the elect I said, and took up my parable concerning them: This sets up the questions:'Will I be one of the chosen? And how can I know? On what basis are the elect selected?' In looking for answers you get taken in directions other than the gospel. The Holy Great One will come forth from His dwelling, Isa 26:21 For, behold, Jehovah cometh forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Zec 2:13 Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation. 1:4 And the eternal God will tread upon the earth, (even) on Mount Sinai, Contradicting Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the mount of Olives shall be cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Deu 33:2 And he said, Jehovah came from Sinai, And rose from Seir unto them; He shined forth from mount Paran, And he came from the ten thousands of holy ones: At his right hand was a fiery law for them. [And appear from His camp] The Bible, when talking about 'camp' 'strength' 'might' 'holy ones' will be talking of war usually earthly war and usually in conformity to the empires ruling Israel as outlined in Daniel. No such emphasis is apparent here. And appear in the strength of His might from the heaven of heavens. If the book continues to focus on might and fear rather than on faith and love, you will know that it is describing an iron and pottery god in man's image, of man's own making. It is not that these are not Biblical themes, but the emphasis can distort minors into majors, and viceversa. 1:5 And all shall be smitten with fear And the Watchers shall quake, 5,6 is almost describing 'shaking the heavens and the earth', a prophecy from Joel then Haggai. Spiritual forces represent the heavenlies (except that these heavenly watchers are now on earth, and in all the descriptions only a tremor is felt in heaven, 60:1) and mountains and hills represent the human forces. This earthquake becomes something of a punchline for the books, being repeated regularly. It steals Joel and Haggai's thunder in an unnatural way, which suggests it was written after them. Notice How Yahweh's epicentre is Mount Zion, not Sinai Joe 3:16 And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but Jehovah will be a refuge unto his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel. And great fear and trembling shall seize them unto the ends of the earth. 1:6 And the high mountains shall be shaken, Isa 54:10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah that hath mercy on thee. And the high hills shall be made low, Notice how Yahweh adds the interpretation on the spot. He is more interested in people and visible spiritual issues than in mountains or invisible-to-man goings on. Hag 2:6-7 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; 7 and I will shake all nations; and the precious things of all nations shall come; and I will fill this house with glory, saith Jehovah of hosts. Hag 2:21-23 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth; 22 and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. 23 In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith Jehovah, and will make thee as a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith Jehovah of hosts. [That is a prophecy of the

chosen Christ priest-king, not detailed in 'Enoch'] And shall melt like wax before the flame Mic 1:4 And the mountains shall be melted under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, as waters that are poured down a steep place. Psa 97:5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of Jehovah, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 1:7 And the earth shall be wholly rent in sunder, Isa 24:19 The earth is utterly broken, the earth is rent asunder, the earth is shaken violently. And all that is upon the earth shall perish, And there shall be a judgement upon all (men). 1:8 But with the righteous He will make peace. And will protect the elect, And mercy shall be upon them. The righteous need no forgiveness. For sinners and enemies to be made righteous is quite another story of true mercy. That is how the gospel gets called 'good'. And they shall all belong to God, 'Mercy', 'elect' and 'belonging' in the Bible would be associated with much talk of a loving marriage covenant between God and Man. Here the unadorned 'power' or 'blessing' lacks the interleaved themes of prophecy. And they shall be prospered, And they shall all be blessed. In the Bible, the central 'blessing' is the inheritance of the Promised Land in eternity. No such emphasis emerges in 'Enoch'. And He will help them all, Help is needed beforehand, usually meaning military success for the chosen nation when under attack, in the Bible's use of the word. And light shall appear unto them, In the Bible, 'light' would stand for truth and life, and it would say so. The book goes on to focus on Sun, Moon, stars, lightning & fire, with very little figurative content about what God is really concerned with. And He will make peace with them'. But they were already 'righteous, elect'! Yahweh God 'makes peace with' His enemies. 1:9 And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones The wording is not new. Almost everyone thinks Enoch was written after the Old Testament scriptures. Deu 33:2 And he said, Jehovah came from Sinai, And rose from Seir unto them; He shined forth from mount Paran, And he came from the ten thousands of holy ones: At his right hand was a fiery law for them. ['from' vs 'with' seems significant, and it is, but see Matthew 25:31; 'law' is not in the Hebrew] Psa 68:17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands upon thousands; The Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the sanctuary. Dan 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. And see Revelation 5:11 But the wording in Jude clearly follows the Book of Enoch: Jud 1:14 (ASV) And to these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam [compare Enoch 60:8], prophesied, saying, Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, Jud 1:15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have ungodly wrought, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (KJV) "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." To execute judgement upon all,

And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. This verse is found in the Qumran scrolls it predates Jude. Every evangelical Christian wants Enoch to be true because it is quoted in their Bible. They do not need Enoch to have said this, because Moses and others had already said it. They simply do not want to throw doubt on Jude, because they pin all their courage on the verbal inspiration and reliability of 'the Bible', and do not want to begin picking bits out of it to discard. We will have to look for escape routes, but the rest of Enoch does not give us much courage to call the whole book 'true'.

Chapter 2This chapter seems to have already reached a point of departure into unsound doctrine. It is not a Biblical teaching that physical astronomical observation of itself has spiritual and prophetic meanings to teach us. There are passages (Psa 19) which give that impression, but closer acquaintance with prophecy shows them up to house prophecies of the Gospel, the Christ (the Bridegroom; the strong man, Psa 19:5) and Anti-Christ, in quite a different form than astronomy. Psalm 19 has very similar content to these chapters: Here it is in full: For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Psa 19:1-14 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament showeth his handiwork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, And night unto night showeth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language; Their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, And his circuit unto the ends of it; And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul: The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever: The ordinances of Jehovah are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: In keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can discern his errors? Clear thou me from hidden faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be clear from great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer. 2:1 Observe ye everything that takes place in the heaven, how they do not change their orbits, and the luminaries which are in the heaven, how they all rise and set in order each in its season, and This is an especially unfortunate observation to put into the mouth of Enoch, who lived in an era when the seasons were not fixed and guaranteed. Only after The Flood did Yahweh promise such stability. If 'Enoch' is relying on stability, he should be held as a prophet who got it as wrong as anyone could ever get anything wrong! 2:2 transgress not against their appointed order. Jud 1:6 And angels that kept not their own principality, but left their proper habitation, he hath kept in everlasting bonds under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Psa 104:19 He appointed the moon for seasons: The sun knoweth his going down. Ecc 1:5-6 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to its place where it ariseth. 6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it turneth about continually in its course, and the wind returneth again to its circuits. Behold ye the earth, and give heed to the things which take place upon it from first to last, how steadfast they are, how none of the things upon earth The land creeps! The mountains record upheavals! Systems evolve or even collapse. Does God therefore creep and flip-flop with the times too?

2:3 change, but all the works of God appear to you. Behold the summer and the winter, how the whole earth is filled with water, and clouds and dew and rain lie upon it. But the Flood changed the 'unchangeable'! So much for interpreting appearances. When Solomon spoke of similar changelessness, it was to lament the evil which God has placed upon the Earth! Ecc 1:7-8 All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; unto the place whither the rivers go, thither they go again. 8 All things are full of weariness; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. Ecc 1:14-15 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. 15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight; and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

Chapter 33:1 Observe and see how (in the winter) all the trees seem as though they had withered and shed all their leaves, except fourteen trees, which do not lose their foliage but retain the old foliage from two to three years till the new comes. The Koran talks in similar uninterpreted terms: 'Look at what you can see, and therefore believe me telling you things you can't see the truth of'. Botany has moved beyond knowledge of only 14 evergreen species! Specifying details is a recipe for being found inaccurate.

Chapter 44:1 And again, observe ye the days of summer how the sun is above the earth over against it. And you seek shade and shelter by reason of the heat of the sun, and the earth also burns with growing heat, and so you cannot tread on the earth, or on a rock by reason of its heat. Notice here how translators opt for 'earth' not 'land', even though verses like this are clearly talking of rocks and soil and land in a particular hemisphere. Yet it is from literature like this that a global over-interpretation of the coming judgement takes its deep roots. 1:7, 2:3 and many verses to come give the impression of talking about the whole earth and all the children of men, as opposed to heaven, seen from an astronomical perspective. So it is no wonder that 'earth' has become the translation of choice when dealing with such verses. Because there is no clear focus on the temple, Jerusalem, Israel, and its surrounding enemies, as emphasised in the Bible, there is a de-facto globalism and anti-Semitism built into Enoch. This does not come from the human authors, who are keen to exalt righteousness under divine law, but from the Opponent of the chosen Christ, of the chosen land, of the chosen nation. The Koran takes it all to a new level. Authors moved and deceived by a false spirit may not be aware of the hidden agenda of deceiving spirits producing imitation scripture to discredit and drown out true Zion-centred prophecy.

Chapter 5This all relies on physical creation and mystical interpretation, but when God uses physical analogies He is talking to us in a way and on a level we can understand. 5:1 Observe ye how the trees cover themselves with green leaves and bear fruit: wherefore give ye heed and know with regard to all His works, and recognize how He that liveth for ever hath made them so. Praising Creator for Creation does not justify any other doctrine pushed onto us by any false prophet. 5:2 and all His works go on thus from year to year for ever, and all the tasks which they accomplish for Him, and their tasks change not, but according as God hath ordained so is it done. This blames God for all disease and perverted corruption of Nature. 5:3 And behold how the sea and the rivers in like manner accomplish and change not their tasks from His commandments'. The sea steadily gets saltier and more polluted. Shouldn't we then excuse any steady decline in human morals, according to this logic? Ecc 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; unto the place whither the rivers go, thither they go again.

5:4 But ye -ye have not been steadfast, nor done the commandments of the Lord, The real religious turning away is from the commands of Christ, and from the Spirit, not from the commandments of Moses. Obedience to the Law is compared, in the New Testament, to idolatry. Idolatry is a major theme in the Bible, but does not figure much in Enoch. But ye have turned away and spoken proud and hard words This section contradicts Jesus, who proclaimed mercy to all but the dedicated enemies of God... Mat 12:31 Therefore I say unto you, Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come. With your impure mouths against His greatness. It is too easy to rely on 'How great God is' and 'How sinful man is in comparison'. It is condemnatory against every reader. God's plan throughout the ages is to do something about man's sinfulness, not to leave him in the soup. Oh, ye hard-hearted, ye shall find no peace. This is properly applied only against those who have seen adequate proof of divine inspiration of whatever particular message or command they are rejecting. In Bible prophecy it predicts the offspring of vipers who will martyr the Christ, and similar extreme situations. The Bible makes this clear for those who look, but 'Enoch' leaves us not even suspecting particular predicted events centring on the ever-awaited Seed of Eve. The result is that we are still wondering whether our neighbour is one of the 'hard-hearted' or not, which is a fool's game. 5:5 Therefore shall ye execrate your days, And the years of your life shall perish, And the years of your destruction shall be multiplied in eternal execration, It is easy to skip to the imagined extreme end for purposes of claiming to 'prophesy' the Koran does only that and it is rather easy to invent but the real test of prophecy is to detail what happens before that end, such as Revelation does. We have Revelation on the public record while we wait to see its predictions come true. No-one has ever claimed the same for the historical predictions in the later books of 'Enoch' we must conclude that they were probably written when the history was already written. True prophecy gets the bad name of 'written after the event', because of added false prophecies which did exactly that. But Yahweh gives multiple fulfilments to true prophecies, so that they are always 'on the public record waiting'. And ye shall find no mercy. This paints a merciless God matching the Devil, but not Yahweh. The sins listed do not justly deserve unlimited punishment. The fallacy of 'Hell for (petty) sin' springs from false and evil 'prophecy' misleading us about the fair justice of God. Jesus came to save those who had broken the commandments. 5:6a In those days ye shall make your names an eternal execration unto all the righteous, There is a contradiction here with the Biblical idea of their names being completely lost. Psa 9:5-6 Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; Thou hast blotted out their name for ever and ever. 6 The enemy are come to an end, they are desolate for ever; And the cities which thou hast overthrown, The very remembrance of them is perished. 5:6b And by you shall all who curse, curse, Other false scriptures love to air curses, usually against perceived enemies and 'Sinners', and thus they promote cursing. There are 8 curses in these few verses. But 'God so loved the world that he gave His first-born Son' to save His enemies which is quite a different and divine spirit. And all the sinners and godless shall imprecate by you, Yahweh emphasised the blessing, not the curse, for all who who bless Abraham and his seed. It constituted the Promise which would be the focus of all subsequent covenants. Gen 12:3 and I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 5:6c And for you the godless there shall be a curse. 5:6d And all the . . . shall rejoice,

The righteous or the elect... This is a 'Them versus Us' passage, but God has shut up all in disobedience, that He might show mercy to all'. The 'Fit myself in to scripture' fallacy takes its roots from 'Them vs Us' passages like this. You inevitably fall short of 'the perfect man', and aren't quite as bad as 'the evil man', of scripture. The resulting uncertainty of where you do fit in multiplies the anxiety and the burning need to find out. However, the Bible talks in prophetic terms, of the Christ and his apostles, and of the anti-Christ and his apostles. It predicts specific events concerning specific persons in specific places at specific times fighting over specific issues, and for most of us that means 'a far-away country, a far-away time, in the centre of God's international miracleperforming profile (not me), concerning men of stature like Jesus, Moses, Paul (nothing much like me), and men of influence (like high priests, princes and kings), and concerning issues nothing to do with my everyday life'. Most of us simply need to relax and listen to the unfolding story, secure in the knowledge that the Servant and servants of God are wellequipped to achieve what I can't achieve for myself, not the least of which is to overcome the servant and servants of the Devil, who are far too evil for me to cope with. We don't 'fit in'; but books like this give you the opposite impression by dividing 'all mankind under heaven' into 'the elect and holy righteous ones' and 'the sinners', with not a hint of hiding specific prophecies. 5:6e And there shall be forgiveness of sins, This chapter bypasses Christ, the seed of Abraham, the heir of the Promise. There is no excuse for that, because He became the ever increasing centre of prophecy. For instance, Eve was given such a promise. Gen 3:15 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis One recorded God's intention to set the Son (the Image and Likeness) of God on the throne. Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. These are things 'Enoch the prophet' should have known a lot about, no matter when he lived. 5:6f And every mercy and peace and forbearance: If the Bible were to wax eloquent about the glories to come, it would be replete with promises of the Spirit poured out. The Holy Spirit gets a big miss in Enoch. 5:6g There shall be salvation unto them, a goodly light. Salvation without a Deliverer. 5:6h And for all of you sinners there shall be no salvation, One of the comforting things about the ways of God is how He both understands us and sympathises with us, literally, by suffering as a sinner-man for us. The big story in the Bible is his close identification with us. 5:6i But on you all shall abide a curse. 5:7a But for the elect there shall be light and joy and peace, 5:7b And they shall inherit the earth. This follows the wording of the Bible, which refers to the 'land' (not 'earth') promised to Abraham's seed a post-Enoch announcement. Psa 25:13 His soul shall dwell at ease; And his seed shall inherit the land. ..and 5 times in Psalm 37 'inherit the land'. Notice the specificity hidden in the singular 'man who fears Yahweh', about a specific land, and referring to a particular future age (the righteous do not yet own the land). 5:8 And then there shall be bestowed upon the elect wisdom, This book promises to reveal all the secret wisdom, but obviously cannot and has not. Wisdom in the Bible is what the Bride of Christ offers to Christ, as a worthy wife should, as becomes evident in the visionary language of Revelation, which pictures the Bride as a city adorned with all precious jewels and gold. True wisdom is not so straightforward as the knowledge of the skilful or the words of the elders. It is more like hearing the voice of the Spirit, which sets aside our own understanding. The wisdom of Jesus, for instance, turned all current understanding on its head. But even so, it is true of the Bible that it does teach you wisdom, and it is true of the book of Enoch that it doesn't. For instance, both books can talk of judgement, but only the Bible

teaches you justice. Once you notice a theme once in the Bible, like tit-for-tat reflexive justice, you begin to notice it everywhere else in the Bible (isn't it like this?), after which you are mightily enlightened. You notice Christ vs Anti-Christ in some prophets, then you see it everywhere else. You see true vs false prophecy as a concern to one prophet, then you find it is a central concern in all the books. You find something in Revelation, then notice it already there in Genesis. You find something new in Genesis, and go looking in Revelation, only to find it. You then agree that the Word of God is wisdom to the simple, light to the eyes. Enoch does not teach you wisdom, nor justice, anti-Christ, false-prophecy, progressive revelation. It will not teach you about the great Jew vs Gentile divide over circumcision, resolved by heart circumcision for both. It will not explore the Law vs Spirit dilemma, resolved by sacrificial death. See for yourself, by searching for wisdom in what 'Enoch' has written. And they shall all live and never again sin, Either through ungodliness or through pride: But they who are wise shall be humble. 5:9 And they shall not again transgress, Nor shall they sin all the days of their life, Nor shall they die of (the divine) anger or wrath, But they shall complete the number of the days of their life. 'Eternal life' has just taken a dive. Part of this lies in our not understanding... Isa 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days; for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed. This may refer to the millennium. Prophecy still has its mysteries (even for this author copying Isaiah's words). Part of the problem is when translators translate 'lifelong' as 'everlasting' (immediately below, for instance) or add 'and ever' onto 'for ever'. We don't comprehend the Bible's 'Ages' (such as Old and New covenant eras) while ever we think in terms of a single Age. And their lives shall be increased in peace, And the years of their joy shall be multiplied, In eternal gladness and peace, All the days of their life. If this were provably written before Isaiah and others had outlined such promises, it would be impressive. But lack of proof is the critical factor.

Chapter 6This chapter leads with words stolen from Moses, about Noah's Flood, then departs into words invented. It cannot be Enoch describing the history of Noah's Flood, 10:2, because Enoch did not live on earth long enough (365 years) to even get close to Noah. Methuselah, his son, and the longest lived of all, at 969 years old, died around the year of the Flood. 6:1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. Gen 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born unto them, 6:2 And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men Gen 6:2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose. Notice how Yahweh immediately interprets the 'sons of God' as 'men of flesh', not as angels coming from heaven... Gen 6:3 And Jehovah said, My spirit shall not strive with man for ever, for that he also is flesh: yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years. And that in Genesis 1&5, Adam, the male man joined to a female woman, was a 'in God's own image and likeness' and therefore a 'son of God', Gen 1:27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. The genealogies, father to son, start with 'God then Adam then Seth then...' describing that a 'son' is 'in the likeness and image of' the father... Gen 5:1-3 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 2 male and female created he them, and

blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. 3 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: Luk 3:38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. Further, you can't argue that a spiritual God could not beget a 'child', since that is what these very verses are naming: 'sons of God'. These 'sons' in turn themselves beget children by the flesh, who die by the sword, as you read on, so it is hardly this book which could argue that the sons of God are spirits not flesh. The book of Enoch at this point has lost any firm foundation. 6:3 and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not After 2 verses of recognisable scripture, comes the much longer new material. Alternative spellings: Shemyazaz; Samyaza; and perhaps Samlazaz, in 7. 6:4 indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations Mutual imprecations is like a gang promising revenge upon any member who betrays or leaves the gang, but swearing an oath invokes a higher power able to punish any and all who break the oath. 6:5 not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' Then sware they all together and bound themselves It beggars belief that spiritual leaders and children of God would invoke a higher power (presumably their Father God) to punish them if they sin against their sworn oath to 'great sin'??!! Such an idea smacks of disrespect for God and oaths in God's name It breaks the first commandment. False prophecy is the source of such disrespect. The Koran is a good example of invoking God in oaths while disregarding God and oaths. 6:6 by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn Gen 5:18 And Jared lived a hundred sixty and two years, and begat Enoch: Whatever happened to the story of the Serpent deceiving Eve, 3 chapters before Jared and his son? Cain knew how to murder already, and Lamech knew how to swear 77-fold vengeance already. The world did not need extra angelic help (described 2500 years too late) in learning how to fill the world with rebellion, violence and immorality. The names of Hermon, Dan (13:7) and Lebanon (13:10) are associated with the Flood in Psalm 19. This may explain why he mentions them. A Psalm of David. Psa 29:1-11 Ascribe unto Jehovah, O ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength. 2 Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name; Worship Jehovah in holy array. 3 The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: The God of glory thundereth, Even Jehovah upon many waters. 4 The voice of Jehovah is powerful; The voice of Jehovah is full of majesty. 5 The voice of Jehovah breaketh the cedars; Yea, Jehovah breaketh in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion [Hermon] like a young wild-ox. 7 The voice of Jehovah cleaveth the flames of fire. 8 The voice of Jehovah shaketh the wilderness; Jehovah shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of Jehovah maketh the hinds to calve, And strippeth the forests bare: And in his temple everything saith, Glory. 10 Jehovah sat as King at the Flood; Yea, Jehovah sitteth as King for ever. 11 Jehovah will give strength unto his people; Jehovah will bless his people with peace. The etymology of 'Hermon' includes sacrificial destruction and dedication. Again this invokes a higher power, which makes this 'explanation' of the source of evil unbelievable. 6:7 and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And these are the names of their leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqijal, Inventing names and text, without inventing public divine miracles to prove yourself, is cheap. I could do it, if I wanted to work for the Liar. You get to recognise impressive padding. 6:8 Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqlel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael,

Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens. These names are Hebrew, and that betrays the genesis of the book. Verses are taken from Moses, Isaiah, etc, and names too are taken from the Bible (Gabriel, Michael, Raphael from the Jewish apocrypha). People argue about the original language of each book, but the original source is Hebrew. Paul and the writer of Hebrews seem to pour scorn on Enoch's fetish with angels, by diminishing its talk of principal angels and their names and dominions (to be described later), in favour of Christ... Eph 1:20-22 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, Heb 1:3-8 who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 having become by so much better than the angels, as he hath inherited a more excellent name than they. 5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son? 6 And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels winds, And his ministers a flame a fire: 8 but of the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Php 2:9-10 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, This next verse almost mentions the apocryphal literature!... Col 2:8-10 Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ: 9 for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, 10 and in him ye are made full [like the Moon in the Book of Astronomy], who is the head of all principality and power: The Hebrew traditional literature, like 'Enoch', is mixed in with the praise of things Jewish, like circumcision, law and traditional rules, so Paul hits the primary target of Judaistic rule-keeping, but also hits the secondary targets of Israel's associated pseudo-religion.

Chapter 7Where Yahweh God would concern Himself with chosen man's rebellion against God, these accusations concern conspiracy theories about invisible beings teaching common or garden earthly sins to no-one in particular. Enoch himself was mentioned in the Bible because he was one of the chosen line of prophets from Adam to Christ. That line of descent is the key focus of the Biblical narrative, and explains why many other important nations and peoples get no airplay. Such an emphasis is lacking in this book. The theme in the Bible would be against false-prophets teachers of the chosen people speaking in God's name but without His authority, misleading the very ones who ought to know better. This book is a prime example of confusing true religion by slipping in to the very heart of the prophetic people. 7:1 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms Treating sex as a major defilement is calling God a sinner, for His Holy Spirit came upon and

overshadowed Mary to make her pregnant. God called His very sexual creation 'very good' on page one of the Bible. Hyper-morality is wrong morality. The idea of defilement is repeated so regularly from now on that there is no denying that this is emphasised as a major sin. 7:2 and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. And they 7:3 became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: Who consumed The Bible does not propose this genesis of the giants it mentions. 7:4 all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against 7:5 them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and These are not Biblical explanations. 7:6 fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones. In the Bible, the giants indeed fill a role of opposing the chosen people. Why then doesn't this book also place their evil into that particular context? Blaming angels for the evil done by flesh and blood humans is a diversion from the condemnation of personal sin, which is the message housed in the Bible. The men are painted as innocent victims, and the angels are painted as almost inherently evil by virtue of beginning badly on earth. This reverses theology in a subtle and insidious way. You can't simply air the new idea in supposed prophecy and expect it not to pervert true teaching.

Chapter 8The author ascribes knowledge to angels on earth in Jared's time (see 6:6) whereas the Bible ascribed creativity to men well before the time of Jared and Enoch... Gen 4:20-22 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents and have cattle. 21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe. 22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah. It is fashionable in philosophy to deprecate humanity and elevate angels and demi-gods and heroes, but the Bible places man on a divine level in and of himself, as a son of God, while relegating angels to an inferior position to Man. The Book of Hebrews, chapter 1 is explicit. 8:1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all Ornaments are not wrong in themselves. The Bible says nothing about where Tubal-Cain's knowledge about metals came from, but it is unlikely to have been from angels. 8:2 colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they 8:3 were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjaza taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, 'Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal (taught) astrology, Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven . . . This very collection of writings tries to teach men the signs of the skies! Is it evil knowledge, 9:9, or not! Astrology is not much part of God's ways, yet this verse gives it place as important knowledge. Jer 10:2 thus saith Jehovah, Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the nations are dismayed at them.

Chapter 9Praying to the saints begins here, sidelining Jesus, and God Himself, and promoting the false idea of dead saints living, to intercede. 9:1 And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being

Raphael is a Hebrew name taken from the Jewish apocryphal book of Tobit. Michael is described as Israel's guardian angel in Daniel, and Gabriel features regularly in Old and New Testament. Uriel means 'flame of God'. Later 'Phanuel' replaces Uriel, e.g. 54:6. 9:2 shed upon the earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth. And they said one to another: 'The earth made without inhabitant cries the voice of their cryings up to the gates of heaven. Once again, common or garden criminal bloodshed is not the prime concern of God and all angels. The prime meaning of 'Thou shalt not kill' is 'Do not crucify My Son' followed by 'You shall not murder My prophets nor martyr My witnesses'. The commandment is religious, but more, it is spiritual, but more, it is prophetic, but more, it binds the story of Creation, destruction and re-creation: The vengeance of the Lamb against the arch-antiChrists. Fighting your neighbour over land-disputes or aggression is very much left behind as irreligious squabbling. 9:3 And now to you, the holy ones of heaven, the souls of men make their suit, saying, "Bring our cause Praying to the angels is a sad turning away from talking to your Father face-to-face as it were. A remote and stern 'God Almighty, far far away, invisible, strict, all-perfect, alldemanding, all-etc...' is simply a false image of God constructed by false teachings like this book. He ends up looking more like the Devil, with his angels and saints showing themselves far more compassionate and understanding of our weaknesses. Soon it is Enoch the intercessor. That leads in to praying to dead men who used to be prophets. It is a short step to portraying Mother Mary as still alive and even more compassionate that her son Jesus, so that you need to pray for Mary's mother to pray that Mary will pray to Jesus to pray for you. The Devil began by teaching evil knowledge to Eve, and is still trying to teach us the evil way of praying to unknown spirits who didn't die for you in love. Christ has opened the doorway for us to approach God, but 'Enoch' would shut it ahead of time. 9:4 before the Most High."' And they said to the Lord of the ages: 'Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings, and God of the ages, the throne of Thy glory (standeth) unto all the generations of the The wording is not original. 9:5 ages, and Thy name holy and glorious and blessed unto all the ages! Thou hast made all things, and power over all things hast Thou: and all things are naked and open in Thy sight, and Thou seest all Job 26:6 Sheol is naked before God, And Abaddon hath no covering. Pro 15:11 Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men! Heb 4:13 And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Psalm 139 is clearly messianic, referring to the one man in particular, which explains why it says many similar things, like... Psa 139:12 Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. It is not sound doctrine to draw lessons of omniscience from particular verses of prophecy. The true idea is that God has decided to make particular things happen, and predicts them in public beforetime. This book is not showing us anything Messianic in its bland praise of a perfect God. It is like plum pudding without the plums. 9:6 things, and nothing can hide itself from Thee. Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which Gnosticism (secret religious knowledge) is a diversion from prophetic and revealed public truth. Mysticism often fills the vacuum where God-given wisdom is lacking. 9:7 men were striving to learn: And Semjaza, to whom Thou hast given authority to bear rule over his associates. And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the earth, and have slept with the 9:9 women, and have defiled themselves, This is a distortion: It is actually the men who sin and who defile the women. To be classified 'unclean' (a catch-all label for many things other than uncleanness) is a religious restriction to say that the women are, at times, 'off-limits; taboo; protected; to be kept undefiled by men;

to be kept sanctified and set apart'. To blame the women as inherently unclean is a reversal, to disguise the men's incontinence. The Koran takes such a perverted stand, and we all know how much disrespect the Koran gives to women. and revealed to them all kinds of sins. And the women have 9:10 borne giants, and the whole earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness. And now, behold, the souls of those who have died are crying and making their suit to the gates of heaven, Here we have an over-literalisation of what God said to Cain about his brother's blood. God did not mean that Abel's spirit was kept in some other-world. Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. [God's own conscience demands justice] and their lamentations have ascended: and cannot cease because of the lawless deeds which are The story in the Bible, about these times, is that all turned to sin except Noah, so that the idea of a large band of innocent victims is contra-Biblical. Sinners kill each other, we know that. If there had been only a few righteous men Yahweh would have spared the population of complete destruction we know that from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim. Gen 18:32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: peradventure ten [righteous] shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. 9:11 wrought on the earth. And Thou knowest all things before they come to pass, and Thou seest these things and Thou dost suffer them, and Thou dost not say to us what we are to do to them in regard to these.' The idea that God is running the earth without informing man of His plans is not correct. He is not such a distant God: Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, except he reveal his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Chapter 10This post-dates Enoch. 10:1 Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, This contradicts Moses, who describes Yahweh Himself speaking to Noah. 10:2 and said to him: Go to Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come How easy it is to 'prophesy' about 2300BC from 300BC! 10:3 upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape 10:4 and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world. And again the Lord said to Raphael: Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening 10:5 in the desert, which is in Dudael, and cast him therein. The 'scape-goat for Azazel was to be driven into the wilderness. See notes at verse 9. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may This is too physical to be believable. Wouldn't he have drowned in the Flood, before Judgement? And wasn't the very purpose of the Flood to destroy all the ungodly? 10:6,10:7 not see light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire. Jud 1:6 And angels that kept not their own principality, but left their proper habitation, he hath kept in everlasting bonds under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not angels when they sinned, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 2Pe 2:5 and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 1 Peter is slightly different:

1Pe 3:19-20 in which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, 20 that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water: This may refer to men not angels, but that raises the objection of an ongoing afterlife for the dead. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the 10:8 Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted The Heavenly Watchers are fully holy in Ezekiel and Daniel. 10:9 through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin. This derives from Moses 'scape-goat: Lev 16:8-10 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for Jehovah, and the other lot for Azazel. 9 And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for Jehovah, and offer him for a sin-offering. 10 But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before Jehovah, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness. Lev 16:26 And he that letteth go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. Lev 16:21-22 and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a man that is in readiness into the wilderness: 22 and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a solitary land: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. And to Gabriel said the Lord: Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: The Law traps men in sin. One way it achieves that is to lead them into treating those excluded by the law, very badly, as second-class, as sinners, as deserving punishment. The punchline comes when God points out that you too have sinned, and according to your own standards of judgement, you too deserve to be treated very badly. Self-righteousness is a trap. This verse is altogether too harsh. and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in Israel overcame the giants in Canaan with divine help. There is no need for this extra explanation and these extra personalities. 10:10 battle: for length of days shall they not have. And no request that they (i.e. their fathers) make of thee shall be granted unto their fathers on their behalf; for they hope to live an eternal life, and The Koran raises this as an objection against the Jews and Christians It obviously got the idea from here. 10:11 that each one of them will live five hundred years. And the Lord said unto Michael: Go, bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves 10:12 with them in all their uncleanness. It is Male Superiority to take the line that women defile men. I have already pointed out in 9:9 that it is men who defile women. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is 35,000 years? Or 3,500yrs? Generation time in those days is recorded at about 160 years. Setting dates on the End is a sign of false prophets. Jesus made that clear. This thesis in Enoch may explain one of the mystical verses in Peter: 1Pe 3:19-20 in which ['the spirit'] also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, 20 that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved

through water: ..especially seeing that 2Peter also seems to re-quote the idea: 2Pe 2:4-5 For if God spared not angels when they sinned, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 10:13 for ever and ever is consummated. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: and 10:14 to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined for ever. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all Eternal Fire Forever and ever is a serious business for the Devil, his angels and his prophets, but every poet takes up the theme with gusto, until most of mankind and the sinner down the street ends up in total sulfur torment for so much as saying 'That's not fair!'. The Bible is a very serious announcement of a very serious day of reckoning and with a very generous offer of amnesty; But false scripture degrades all it announces down to a level of mystical fantasy, gross injustice and widespread mockery. False prophecy is the more serious sin to be fully aware of. 10:15 generations. And destroy all the spirits of the reprobate and the children of the Watchers, because Black-and-white judgementalism makes everything right or wrong (next verse), deserving eternal bliss or torture. But Yahweh God taught us graded punishment to fairly fit the crime. Here the sin hasn't changed from earthly and temporal crimes, but the punishment has progressed from being imprisoned until the Day of Judgement, to being imprisoned for the purpose of being thrown into eternal torment, together with any people who are condemned along with these evil spirits. If you don't see this distortion taking hold at this its source, you can hardly see it any differently later. 10:16 they have wronged mankind. Destroy all wrong from the face of the earth and let every evil work come to an end: and let the plant of righteousness and truth appear: and it shall prove a blessing; the works of righteousness and truth shall be planted in truth and joy for evermore. Isa 61:3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified. No explanation is given as to how men might achieve righteousness, except that those nasty angels are out of the way. This avoids the absolute human need for a Saviour. If men could repent by themselves, Jesus would not have needed to be sacrificed. Maybe this is an allusion to the tree of Life? But Ezekiel simply described it straightforwardly in detail. If this is a prophecy of the birth and ministry of Christ, the Branch, it still skips over the 2000 years to follow, and the millennium, and all the evil of the reign of the Beast overcoming the saints. Prophecy can skip over intermediate events, but this is stretching credibility. Jer 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Jer 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ['justice' and 'truth' are semantically bound] Zec 6:12 and speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of Jehovah; You can hear a prophecy of Christ in that the Son of David built the new temple, the spiritual one. You can't hear any prophecy of Christ in the imitation version. 10:17 And then shall all the righteous escape, The Remnant of Israel, returning from dispersion, exile, captivity, slavery in Babylon and Egypt and Greece, which is all figurative for men escaping the prison of Death, gets no airplay. Again the empty wording imitates the scripture but fails to house and hide the prophetic content. With this in mind, see how Isaiah is chock-a-block full of the things lacking in 'Enoch':

prophetic content, poetically loaded imagery, Biblical themes, Zion-centredness, and explicit predictions of the Christ. [Jesse is David's father; David was promised the Christ as anointed King]... Isa 11:1-12 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. 3 And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; 4 but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his waist, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins. 6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the root of Jesse, that standeth for an ensign of the peoples, unto him shall the nations seek; and his resting-place shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, that shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. And shall live till they beget thousands of children, Eternal life and multiplication do not go together forever, because it would produce infinite population. Jesus denied the possibility of marriage in the Age to come. And all the days of their youth and their old age Eternal life in this description is not spiritual enough to match the Bible. The appearance of angels is rarely other than of the 'comely' appearance of 'youth'. Aging simply doesn't easily mix with a promise worth waiting for. Shall they complete in peace. Death is not gone?! 10:18 And then shall the whole earth be tilled in righteousness, and shall all be planted with trees and Jer 31:5 Again shalt thou plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit thereof. Mic 4:4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig-tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of Jehovah of hosts hath spoken it. 10:19 be full of blessing. And all desirable trees shall be planted on it, and they shall plant vines on it: and the vine which they plant thereon shall yield wine in abundance, and as for all the seed which is sown thereon each measure (of it) shall bear a thousand, Son 8:11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He let out the vineyard unto keepers; Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver. Cf Isa 7:23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, shall be for briers and thorns. The Song of Songs is also rich in hidden prophetic imagery. For one example, compare Jesus talking about John's baptism with Son 2:14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, In the covert of the steep place, Let me see thy countenance, Let me hear thy voice; For sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely. Joh 5:37 And the Father that sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. Joh 1:32 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.

Mat 3:16-17 And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; 17 and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. The point is again that 'Enoch' does not develop his images into meaningful prophecy. Beyond the obvious (easy to imitate), he does not have any images or prophecy. and each measure of olives shall yield 10:20 ten presses of oil. And cleanse thou the earth from all oppression, and from all unrighteousness, and from all sin, and from all godlessness: and all the uncleanness that is wrought upon the earth This does not promise to cleanse the heart of man. The Bible promises a renewed spirit to accomplish heart-cleansing, for all men who accept it, likened to circumcision-cleansing. That Spirit was a particular series of outpourings and gifts to particular people at a particular time through a particular belief and through specific laying on of hands by men of that particular spirit. Where the Bible is famously detailed and explicit and historic and specific to the point of being labelled exclusivist, Enoch is as deliberately vague as agnostics or universalists or idealists or astrologers. Where the Bible is backed up and confirmed by actual spiritual happenings according to its prophecy, Enoch is words-only. In comparing true to false prophecy It is easy to miss the real game what all the words are describing in real history God's Holy Spirit is to be shared with repentant sinners. 10:21 destroy from off the earth. And all the children of men shall become righteous, and all nations 10:22 shall offer adoration and shall praise Me, and all shall worship Me. And the earth shall be cleansed from all defilement, and from all sin, and from all punishment, and from all torment, and I will never again send (them) upon it from generation to generation and for ever.

Chapter 1111:1 And in those days I will open the store chambers of blessing which are in the heaven, so as to send The wording is like the Bible, but the haziness is unlike it. The Bible would be Zion-centred, would rebuke particular sins, would prophesy particular future solutions, would promise days of spirit and everlasting covenant, would choose particular people, would stick to a particular line through ages. Mal 3:10 Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11:2 them down upon the earth over the work and labour of the children of men. And truth and peace shall be associated together throughout all the days of the world and throughout all the generations of men.

Chapter 12The content here overlaps with chapter 10 in the days of Noah, half a millennium or more after Enoch had disappeared. The explanation that Enoch lived on in heavenly realms for a thousand years or so is not credible. There is no account of his death to explain his silence. Ever since contemporary historical records have been able to capture reliable information of what actually did happen, lo and behold, no more ancient prophecies flow from him. 12:1 Before these things Enoch was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was There is a Biblical reference to Enoch going, but these next verses say that he returned! Of this there is no independent record or proof. 12:2 hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him. And his activities had to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones. See the notes at 39:3 and 87:3 about Enoch's so-called 'translation'. 12:3 And I Enoch was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers 12:4 called me -Enoch the scribe- and said to me: 'Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go, declare to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high

heaven, Do you see how he must return to earth to do this. These watchers looked real enough to the women, so how can the children of men fail to notice Enoch returning? the holy eternal place, and have defiled themselves with women, and have done as the children of earth do, and have taken unto themselves Notice the turnaround: In Daniel the holy watchers pronounced judgement against evil men, but now a holy man pronounces judgements against evil watchers. This is the thin end of the wedge whereby the gullible are told to pray to dead saints. 12:5 wives: "Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth: And ye shall have no peace nor forgiveness 12:6 of sin: and inasmuch as they delight themselves in their children, The murder of their beloved ones shall they see, and over the destruction of their children shall they lament, and shall make supplication unto eternity, but mercy and peace shall ye not attain." Murdering the children for the sins of the fathers is not a Biblical statute. One of the nice things about the Bible is how it reveals to us the heart of God, as a person of passions, a father with love for his children, a husband jealous for his wife, a judge with mercy and true justice, and so on. His heart turns out to be one of encouragement and reassurance, his spirit shows itself to be one of wisdom and power against falsity and hatred. Reading the prophet is like listening to the god of that prophet. Reading Enoch reveals the heart of the spirit of the author, and it has not the same power of encouragement, wisdom in justice, spirit of love and self-sacrifice.

Chapter 13At some point you have to ask what the prophetic point of any of this is. Does it predict the Christ? Or describe the reign of the Anti-Christ? Does any of it matter to us or any later generation? The answers seem to be No. 13:1 And Enoch went and said: Azazel, thou shalt have no peace: a severe sentence has gone forth In 10:4-5 Azazel had been put in a cave for ever, already. All we 'know' of these events comes from this 'prophet'. Why haven't other prophets expanded the themes? God places angels as far less important than His Son and Heir of creation, Man, the Son of Man. The first chapter of Hebrews points this out (to people brought up on the book of Enoch). The end-times idolatry is of man, with the central player being a man, with the number and name of a man. The scenario of concern to God is true-man vs false-man, not of the named angels in the background. Their fate would not even be mentioned more than once or twice in passing if it were not for Peter and Jude quoting from Enoch. 13:2 against thee to put thee in bonds: And thou shalt not have toleration nor request granted to thee, because of the unrighteousness which thou hast taught, and because of all the works of godlessness 13:3 and unrighteousness and sin which thou hast shown to men. Then I went and spoke to them all 200 mighty evil angels cower in the presence of one man! 13:4 together, and they were all afraid, and fear and trembling seized them. And they besought me to draw up a petition for them that they might find forgiveness, and to read their petition in the presence 'I elect myself Intercessor for angels' on Enoch's behalf, but not written by Enoch. Praying to saints was probably already in vogue when this was written, but it is still as heinous a sin as painted in Moses' law and elsewhere... 1Sa 28:16 And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary? Isa 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living should they seek unto the dead? 13:5 of the Lord of heaven. For from thenceforward they could not speak (with Him) nor lift up their Repentant evil spirits is a new creation. No mercy to the repentant is also new. 13:6 eyes to heaven for shame of their sins for which they had been condemned.

Then I wrote out their petition, and the prayer in regard to their spirits and their deeds individually and in regard to their 13:7 requests that they should have forgiveness and length. And I went off and sat down at the waters of Dan, in the land of Dan, to the south of the west of Hermon: I read their petition till I fell 13:8 asleep. And behold a dream came to me, and visions fell down upon me, and I saw visions of chastisement, and a voice came bidding (me) I to tell it to the sons of heaven, and reprimand them. 13:9 And when I awaked, I came unto them, and they were all sitting gathered together, weeping in 13:10 Abelsjail, which is between Lebanon and Seneser, with their faces covered. And I recounted before them all the visions which I had seen in sleep, and I began to speak the words of righteousness, and to reprimand the heavenly Watchers. Enoch did not identify the spirit of the vision, and the spirit of the vision did not identify Enoch by giving him world-famous miracles. He recounted words (of righteousness and judgement) that is like the sum-total of the Koran's credentials.

Chapter 1414:1 The book of the words of righteousness, and of the reprimand of the eternal Watchers in accordance 14:2 with the command of the Holy Great One in that vision. I saw in my sleep what I will now say with a tongue of flesh and with the breath of my mouth: which the Great One has given to men to Enoch in the flesh, must predate earlier chapters of events after his departure from Earth. But the other books seem to describe a fleshly existence apart from the earth (with no explanation for how anyone could hear Enoch talking or receive his books). 14:3 converse therewith and understand with the heart. As He has created and given to man the power of understanding the word of wisdom, so hath He created me also and given me the power of reprimanding Self-recommendation, based on words alone, about private visions, all smacks of filling in the obvious vacuum no public proof, no public power, no trustworthy credentials. 14:4 the Watchers, the children of heaven. I wrote out your petition, and in my vision it appeared thus, that your petition will not be granted unto you throughout all the days of eternity, and that judgement Painting God as strict and judgemental does disservice to God. It seems to be man creating God in his own imperfect image, rather than God revealing His unbelievable mercy, as in the following verse... Isa 55:7-9 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 14:5 has been finally passed upon you: yea (your petition) will not be granted unto you. And from henceforth you shall not ascend into heaven unto all eternity, and in bonds of the earth the decree 14:6 has gone forth to bind you for all the days of the world. And (that) previously you shall have seen the destruction of your beloved sons and ye shall have no pleasure in them, but they shall fall before 14:7 you by the sword. And your petition on their behalf shall not be granted, nor yet on your own: even though you weep and pray and speak all the words contained in the writing which I have When Yahweh refuses pleas, it is after sending many prophets, and even then He expects the prophets to disregard His words, and pray for their forgiveness anyway. Moses won Israel's forgiveness in this way more than once, and Jeremiah states that he did pray for them. Jer 7:16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee. [and Jer 11:14; 14:11f] Jer 15:1 Then said Jehovah unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

Jer 18:20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them. Eze 14:14 though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord Jehovah. 14:8 written. And the vision was shown to me thus: Behold, in the vision clouds invited me and a mist summoned me, and the course of the stars and
