Ellie Harvey, Denise Jones, Christine Lippa and Jamie Chrest, who patrons to The Centre will remember from the outrageous Leave it to Cleavage, will be returning to The Chilliwack Cultural Centre on October 9, 2015 with their brand-new show, Sex & the Suburbs! For an equally audacious exposé of the hidden secrets of suburban bliss, delivered with award-winning wit and hysterical hijinks, take a peek behind the curtains with the gals of Sex & the Suburbs! Shedding their famous Leave it to Cleavage satin party dresses and retro 50s wigs, with Sex & the Suburbs Ellie, Denise, Christine and Jamie will take you on a hysterical journey through hidden world of suburban debauchery, baring all (including their own personalities), along the way! “The gals of Leave it to Cleavage loooooove doing our 50’s housewife characters” says the show’s co-creator Diane Francis, “but sometimes a gal has got to take off the party dress and just be herself! We decided for this round of touring, we would bring audiences our same lady sass, but present it sans character to allow ourselves to play different characters in our improv scenes. Our favourite shows are those that have that ‘girls-night-out’ vibe, so creating a new show with this theme seemed right up our alley.” And excitingly, the all new theme brings along an all-new format! The gals will once again be bringing their acclaimed improve skills to the stage with Sex & the Suburbs, yet the audience will also be able to throw in their own stories, secrets, and saucy surprises to really give the hilarity a truly Chilliwack twist! “The first half of the show will be a mix of short form improv games and some longer scenes that allow us to stretch our comedy chops with more narrative” Diane reveals. “At the end of the first half we will encourage the audience to think of a story they want to tell – it can be about anything and everything; a first date, a bad job interview, a hilarious family vacation, an unusual talent or even a poignant loving moment with a friend. And if they’re feeling like they really want to get involved, audience members just have to put their name in the bucket in the lobby at intermission – we’ll randomly draw a name for a guest to join us on stage for some special fun, that we promise will make the lucky person feel both funny and fantastic! From there, we will do a series of improv scenes that blossom from the stories the audience provide us with. We should be able to have 3-4 guests on stage in the second half - and our goal is to show them how fabulous their lives are!” It isn’t just the female fabulousness, the audience participation, or the no-holds- barred hilarity that makes a show with these comics one of the best nights of laughs ever however – the incredible dynamic between the Sex & the Suburbs gals adds a truly special atmosphere of entertainment to their appearances! “The dynamic between the gals is AMAZING!” Diane goes on. “They are all such good friends off stage, and that trust and admiration makes them a killer team onstage.” So for a night of her-larious comedy and an unforgettable exploration of suburban bliss, grab a few friends (and maybe some saucy suburbanites!) and come down to The Centre on October 9, 2015 for Sex & the Suburbs!
