The resort is situated directly on the upper Suriname River opposite the village Pingpe (also called Pempe). The guide informs you widely about the flora and fauna around you, the medicinal plants of the forest and their uses. At the creek there is a basic camp, where you will overnight in a hammock fied with a mosquito net. In camp Anjoemara one can enjoy the sounds of the jungle, bath in the sula, fish or chill in a hammock. An adventure where you could possibly eat your own caught Anjoemara at dinner. During your stay you will experience and taste the untouched jungle in a unique way and forget about the life outside.

Resort & Accommodation The wooded resort is located on a beautiful place, right on the Upper-Suriname River. The small resort is simply constructed and furnished but with all basic facilities. The re-sort consists of: 6 spacious lodges with beds with mosquito nets, a private shower and toilet and a spacious veranda, a restaurant with a simple bar and kitchen, a separate shower and toilet facilities and several places to relax. The resort is equipped with solar panels, so there is lighting in the evenings and electrical devices can be charged. From your veranda, where you will be served every morning coffee and tea, you can look out over the river. The lodges can accommodate 2 to 5 people. Also can hammock spots are created. In the village and the resort you will be welcomed by the residents of Pingpe, making you feel welcome and quickly learn your first words Saramaccan.

The Village Pingpe Pingpe is an authentic Maroon village, the home of about 200 persons. Maroons are the descend-ants of the runaway slaves who were originally brought from West Africa to work on the planta-tions. In the villages they have preserved the cul-ture of their ancestors well. For their livelihood they normally depend among on hunting, fishing, subsistence farming (slash and burn), forestry, medicinal plants. From Paramaribo they are sup-plied with clothing, kitchenware, tools, rice, gaso-line and outboard engines. When visiting the vil-lages Pingpe and the surrounding village Semoisie you experience the authentic lifestyle, atmos-phere and culture. Because tourism is still in an infant stage, the traditional village culture is pre-served. The residents are happy with the arrival of tourists as a result of which they get to know new cultures. They let you see their traditions. Their warmth and hospitality you will long retain in your memory. Location & Route The resort is approximately 75 km south of Atjoni, the harbour is the last spot who is accessible by road. In the case of transport by bus/dug-out ca-noe you drive in approx 2.5 hours to Atjoni, where you further travel by canoe. You sail in about 3.5 hours, depending on the water level, to Jungle Resort Pingpe. In the case of transport by airplane, you fly to/from airport to/from Zorg&Hoop & Djumu. The

flight takes about 1 hour. About 15 minutes boat ride from Djumu downstream to the resort. (By plane you may take up to 8 kg of luggage per person.) You need always to take your Passport for travel by bus/ boat and by airplane! For whom suitable? The tours are suitable for anyone who wants to experience the Interior of Suriname at a reasonable comfortably way under guidance of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. By the adventurous character of our tours, is an average physical condition de-sired. At the 'Back-to-Basic Experience' is a good condition required but especially an adventurous spirit. You should take into account that the overnight on the 'Back-to-Basic base camp' no basic facilities are present, such as shower and toilet. (Applies only the 'Back-to-basics ' walking tour). Advice what to bring: Light and quick drying clothes, 2 long and 2 short pants, 2 shirts with long sleeves, swimwear, T-shirts, slippers, sturdy walking shoes, toiletries, sunscreen, Cap, insects repellent, flashlight, film/photo camera, rain cloak, small backpack, waterproof bag for your precious stuff, mon-ey for souvenirs and bar account. For the 'Back-to-Basic Experience' an extra long trousers and t-shirt with long sleeves! On the resort there by phone range with Digicel and Telesur. Please bring your passport because of regular monitoring at police station.
