In preparation for opening and building communication in the program, all participants are C e n t e r F o r E n v i r o n m e n t a l E d u c a t i o n CEL CENTER FOR EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP Enhancing Leadership Team Effectiveness: Overcoming Obstacles & Making Sustainable Agreements with CEE and Intl. leadership consultant Rafi Haham Individual commitment is about unifying one’s different faculties (Emotional, Mental, Intuitive) in one direction. A group commitment is about tuning all individuals’ faculties toward one another and together agreeing to unify efforts. Enter the art of effective groups ‘Creating Agreements.' Leaders and leadership teams are invited to work together to break through barriers of communication, trust, and understanding to help define and refine a sustainable agreement about operating with one another and in their leadership capacity. This work supports a strong examination of both the mission/vision of the district and the characteristics of an effective leadership team; it’s about creating an enhanced level of mutual commitment to a shared vision. DAY 1: THE TUNING Propose, identify, and refine the characteristics the team appreciates in themselves as individuals, in each other, and likely, in the students and staff in their schools. (Yorktown Heights Challenge Course at P|NW BOCES) DAY 2: THE ELEVATION Explore a deeper understanding of the nature of mutual commitment and the nature of leadership. Consider why a leadership team needs to think about leadership as a presence of guidance and service and not just as a function. Begin to work on the team’s agreement. (At your site or P|NW BOCES) DAY 3: THE COMMITMENT Pursue specific and focused agreement formation work and cooperatively identify, build, and validate a working agreement that all members of the team can endorse. (At your site or P|NW BOCES) ... AND Following: Opportunities to revisit and validate the agreement by the leadership team and the consultant will be available.
