NHS EmployeesIf you are an NHS Employee you can apply for funding to pay for your course through NES.

NHS employees can apply for funding from the Fellowship Fund, details of which can be

found on the NES website - nes.scot.nhs.uk. You will need to have your funding in place

before you apply for the course. Course fees are £1450 per candidate plus £240 per block

residential week.

Start DateThe next course starts on 5 March 2012. There are only 20 places available, so we

recommend you apply for this course as soon as possible.

Course OverviewThe HNC Physiotherapy Support course was developed in partnership with education

providers, employers, professional bodies, the NHS and clinical managers and was

designed in response to the need for a qualification to support the aims of workforce

development in the NHS and gaps identified in terms of training provision and progression.

Is This Course for You?To apply for this course, you need to be working in a Physiotherapy Support Worker role,

either for the NHS or other relevant organisation and have a minimum of two years’

experience working in the field.

If you meet this criteria, you can apply online at: stevenson.ac.uk/physiotherapy and you

will be invited to an interview. This will be a panel of staff from NES and Stevenson

College Edinburgh plus a formal written task to assess your academic ability.

Stevenson College Edinburgh is the only college in Scotland offering the HNC Allied Health:

Physiotherapy Support qualification, which is aimed at Physiotherapy Support Workers.

The course runs over two years on a distance learning (home study) basis and includes a

minimum of three residential weeks each year. The first two-year course was completed at

Stevenson in June 2011 which was exceptionally succesful and wholeheartedly supported

by employers and NHS Scotland.

The training is supported by NES (NHS Education for Scotland) and is ideal if you are

already working in a Physiotherapy Support Worker role in any clinical setting.

Not only will the qualification enhance your existing skills, it will also help your

employment prospects across the UK. Once you complete your HNC, you may be able to

progress to a degree-level course.
