WELCOME STATEMENT

Welcome to our 31th Annual AKC Licensed English Springer Spaniel Field Trial.

To all dog handlers planning to enter the 2020 ESS field trial of Long Island. These are unique times we findourselves in and as such this trial will be like no other trial we have run before. The following rules for the trialmay seem like an inconvenience to some but we hope that 2020 will be the only time we have to resort to thisunique way of conducting our trial and thus return to “the old normal” sooner than later.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the following field trial guidelines will be in effect to provide as much safety aspossible with the understanding that there can never be a 100% guarantee of safety. Each person who isconsidering entering the trial must review the safety protocols that are listed below and decide if he/she is willingto accept the risk.Link to AKC Suggested COVID19 Practices

Please bring the following with you to the trial: 1. Masks/face covering, at least 2 for each day.2. Hand sanitizer.3. Disinfect wipes.4. Disposable gloves if needed5. Any other PPE you might use to feel safe at the trial.6. Food and drink.

There will be a MAXIMUM OF 50 PEOPLE allowed at the trial each day. This includes, guns, judges, bird planters, field trial committee, marshals and any other officials such as AKC representatives, handlers and their helpers.

As such, entries will be CAPPED at 38 entries (people not dogs) and will be on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVEdetermined by entering on Huntsecretary.com

Unfortunately we ask that NO OTHER GUESTS OR OBSERVERS be permitted at the trial or trial grounds.

Masks/face covering must be worn AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN THE FIELD with the exception of while running yourdog. If you don't have a mask, one will be provided for you.

Handlers will refrain from turning to face the judge to speak to them once you have removed your mask.Masks/face coverings may be removed once you HAVE LEFT the gallery area or at the line before casting off yourdog.

For their own safety, Judges are encouraged to wear a mask/face covering when a minimum of a 6-foot distancecannot be maintained.

When handing the retrieve to the judge, just put it behind your back, they will take it and put it in the shaggersbasket, who will have their back to the judge, and will then return to their position, at least six feet behind them.

Guns have the option of wearing a mask/face covering while shooting if they prefer but MUST WEAR a mask/facecovering while in the field and not shooting.

We ask that everyone keep a minimum of approx. 6’ social distance AT ALL TIMES whenever possible. Please donot congregate in the parking area by your cars.

If you have multiple dogs entered you should bring an assistant to bring your dogs out to hold your dogs. As always, Judges may not “tap to send”, they may use verbal commands.

Judge's instructions and Field Trial instructions will be available the day of the trial or will be broadcast over theradio. This way we can eliminate the morning meeting each day as well as any last minute changes that might

need to be put in place due to NYS COVID-19 guideline updates.
