February 21 - March 7, 2015
UH Hilo’s two week English & Environmental Studies program is an opportunity for students from all over the world to experience Hawaii’s unique natural environment while gaining valuable English skills at the same time.
The Big Island of Hawai‘i is unique in that it has 10 of the 13 climate zones, an active volcano, tropical rainforest and a 4,000 meter mountain. This living laboratory gives us amazing opportunities to study many aspects of environmental science in one location. The native Hawaiians treasured their relationship to the land, and we welcome you to experience all that the island has to teach us.
Highlights:45 hours of Intensive English classes•Lectures & Experiential learning activities in •Environmental StudiesTopics: Marine science, sustainable agriculture, •astronomy, volcanology and eco-business. Culminating Research Project•Certificates of Completion•Weekend trips around the island•UH Hilo Student Participants•
Cost: $2500 (includes on-campus housing, two meals/day, all classes & excursions, transportation & access to university facilities)Language Requirement:
Students will gain the most from this program if they have a 550/79 TOEFL score, or higher, but students with lower levels of English proficiency are welcome.
