Completely read all of these instructions before commencing the installation of the accessory kit in order to becomethoroughly familiar with the kit’s features and the installation process.

These instructions should be considered a permanent part of your accessory kit, and should remain with it even if youraccessory-equipped motorcycle is subsequently sold.

Note:

• The harness kit A9510094 must be used withtank bag kit A9510093 (15 to 18 litre).

Harness Installation

1. Remove the rider’s seat as described in the ownershandbook.

2. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.

3. Remove the front auxiliary socket panel andelectrical connector, as described in the servicemanual.

4. Position the harness to the fuel tank, aligning the fuelfiller opening so it is concentric to the fuel filler cap.

5. Fit the two front hooks into the slot provided in theframe brace.

WarningThis accessory kit is designed for use on Triumph TigerExplorer and Tiger Explorer XC motorcycles only andshould not be fitted to any other Triumph model or toany other manufacturer’s motorcycle. Fitting thisaccessory kit to any other Triumph model or to anyother manufacturer’s motorcycle will affect theperformance, stability and handling of the motorcycle.This may affect the rider’s ability to control themotorcycle and could cause an accident.

WarningAlways have Triumph approved parts, accessories andconversions fitted by a trained technician of anauthorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts,accessories and conversions by a technician who is notof an authorised Triumph dealer may affect thehandling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycle’soperation, which may result in loss of motorcycle controland an accident.

WarningThroughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle isstabilised and adequately supported to prevent risk ofinjury from the motorcycle falling.

WarningA torque wrench of known accurate calibration must beused when fitting this accessory kit. Failure to tightenany of the fasteners to the correct torque specificationmay affect motorcycle performance, handling andstability. This may result in loss of motorcycle control andan accident.

CautionEnsure both the underside of the harness and the fueltank are clean and dry prior to fitting the tank bag. Dirtor dust trapped between the fuel tank and the harnesswill result in damage to the paintwork and harness.

7. Position the harness to the fuel tank in the positionshown below.

8. Tighten the velcro straps and place the elastic coverover the end as shown below.

9. Fully tension the front straps making sure theharness is concentric to the fuel filler and nosideways movement is possible.

10. Place the excess length from the front straps into theslots on the harness.

Note:

• There must be no sideways movement of theharness after tensioning.

11. Check that the fuel filler cap opens withoutobstruction.

12. If the fuel filler opening is not in the correct positionwhen the straps have been tensioned, loosen thefour straps and adjust as required.

13. Refit the front auxiliary socket electrical connectorand panel as described in the service manual.

14. Reconnect the battery (red lead first).

15. Refit the rider’s seat as described in the ownersmanual.

CautionIncorrect tensioning of the tank bag harness will result indamage to the fuel tank or harness.

WarningEnsure the harness does not restrict the movement ofthe steering or cause any cables or wiring harnesses tobind.

Move the handlebars to left and right full lock whilechecking that cables and wiring harnesses do not bind.A cable or harness which binds will restrict the steering.Any restriction of the steering may cause loss of controland an accident.

WarningAlways ensure the harness is correctly tensioned beforeriding the motorcycle. Operation of the motorcycle withthe harness loose may result in loss of motorcyclecontrol and an accident.

Tank Bag Installation

Note:

• When using the tank bag, always pack heavieritems at the bottom of the bag.

1. Position the tank bag to the harness and attach theclips on the tank bag to the clips on the harness.

2. Attach the rear magnetic flap to the steel plate on theharness. Ensure the magnetic fixing is securelyattached to the steel surface on the harness.

3. Evenly tension the straps on the left and right handside of the tank bag until it is tight against theharness.

Note:

• There must be no sideways movement of thetank bag after tensioning.

Cleaning

To help maintain their appearance, clean the tank bag andharness using a sponge or cleaning cloth with low alkalinesoap and water.

WarningRemove all shoulder straps from the tank bag beforemounting the tank bag to the motorcycle. Operation ofthe motorcycle with the shoulder straps fitted may resultin loss of motorcycle control and an accident.

WarningAlways ensure the fuel filler cap lock cover is closedbefore fitment of the tank bag to the harness. Fitment ofthe tank bag with the lock cover open may preventcorrect attachment of the tank bag rear magnet to thesteel plate on the harness, resulting in loss of motorcyclecontrol and an accident.

CautionAlways ensure the fuel filler cap lock cover is closedbefore fitment of the tank bag to the harness. Fitment ofthe tank bag with the lock cover open may result inpermanent damage to the tank bag or fuel filler cap.

CautionAlways remove the tank bag prior to refuelling.Opening the fuel filler cap with the tank bag attached tothe harness will damage the harness or tank bag.

CautionEnsure both the underside of the tank bag and theupper surface of the harness are clean and dry prior tofitting the tank bag. Dirt or dust trapped between thetank bag and the harness will result in damage to bothitems.

CautionUse of chemicals or high-pressure spray washers is notrecommended for cleaning the tank bag or harness.Using chemicals or pressure washers may damage thetank bag or harness.

WarningEnsure the tank bag does not restrict the movement ofthe steering or cause any cables or wiring harnesses tobind.

Move the handlebars to the left and right full lock whilechecking that cables and wiring harnesses do not bind.A cable or harness which binds will restrict the steering.Any restriction of the steering may cause loss of controland an accident.

WarningThe maximum safe load for the tank bag is 5 kg(11 lbs). Never exceed this loading limit as this maycause the motorcycle to become unstable leading to lossof control and an accident.

WarningAfter fitting the accessory kit the motorcycle will exhibitnew handling characteristics. Operate the motorcycle ina safe area free from traffic to gain familiarity with anynew characteristics. Operation of the motorcycle whennot familiar with any new handling characteristics mayresult in loss of motorcycle control and an accident.

WarningNever ride an accessory-equipped motorcycle (includingthose fitted with Triumph approved windscreens andluggage systems) at speeds above 80 mph (130 km/h).

The presence of accessories such as windscreens andluggage systems will cause changes in the stability andhandling of the motorcycle. Failure to allow for changesin motorcycle stability may lead to loss of control or anaccident.

Remember that the 80 mph (130 km/h) limit will bereduced by the fitting of non-approved accessories,incorrect loading, worn tyres, overall motorcyclecondition and poor road or weather conditions.

WarningThis motorcycle must not be operated above the legalroad speed limit except in authorised closed-courseconditions.

WarningOnly operate this Triumph motorcycle at high speed inclosed-course on road competition or on closed-courseracetracks. High-speed operation should only beattempted by riders who have been instructed in thetechniques necessary for high-speed riding and arefamiliar with the motorcycle’s characteristics in allconditions.

High-speed operation in any other circumstances isdangerous and will lead to loss of motorcycle controland an accident.

WarningThe strong magnet used to retain the tank bag to theharness may adversely affect a variety of electronicdevices and electronic storage units such as (but notlimited to): electronic medical devices, mobile phones,personal data assistants (PDAs), lap top computers,floppy discs and other computer storage media,personal music players, digital cameras, memory cards,music/video cassettes etc.

Ensure that if carrying any of these items, they are storedas far away from the magnets as possible. It isrecommended that any such items are carried elsewhereon the motorcycle or in the map pocket under the lid.

Carriage of any such items is entirely at your own risk.
