- About us: Located on the heights of the town of Altea, just 300 metres away from the Palau Altea, or Altea Concert Hall, and a stone’s throw from the Old Quarter, the Hotel “Tossal d’Altea” (and Restaurante “Almàssera de Guillem”) was built on the site of a traditional olive oil mill which for over 300 years was used to produce olive oil. The hotel, whose design is reminiscent of Altean tradition while incorporating modern amenities and luxuries, caters mainly for guests seeking relaxation and wellbeing in a warm and welcoming environment in the heart of nature. The structure and decorative style of the hotel, whose rural design is typical of Altean country houses, blend in harmoniously with its restful setting, and it has sweeping views of the countryside, mountains and sea. What sets the hotel apart and endows it with its own personality is its core philosophy to provide attentive and personal services and a quality product for the highest guest satisfaction.

Inside the hotel there is a restaurant (Restaurante “Almàssera de Guillem”) which has two air-conditioned dining rooms which are open to the general public, where guests can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine as well as typical regional dishes. The “Menjador Almàssera” has a cylindrical stone mill and some presses in the centre, and a fireplace, while the “Saló Altea” is a more intimate area that is set apart from the main dining room. There is also a coffee lounge for guests wishing to have a coffee, which also serves the open air terrace. Hotel and outside guests may use all the restaurant facilities. The hotel has 15 rooms on the first floor and 7 rooms on the second floor. The spacious double rooms (which can also be used as single rooms) have balconies with panoramic views, mini-bar, television, telephone, internet, a safe, air-conditioning, heating, exquisite bathrooms etc. We can also highly recommend our charming Superior Double room with canopy bed, and the uniquely elegant Special Suite which has a private sauna and hydromassage bath in an adjoining room. Whatever your tastes and interests are, we guarantee that your stay will be as pleasant and restful as possible. The hotel’s outdoor grounds include two large outdoor car parks right next to the hotel which have security surveillance, landscaped areas for enjoyable strolls, and an extensive terrace where you can sunbathe and enjoy the gentle breeze. There is also a swimming pool and gym for those who wish to use them. There is no extra charge for using these facilities, which have all been designed to provide easy access for disabled people. Salon-Dining room “Almàssera”. Hotel Tossal d’Altea

- Our salons/dining rooms: The restaurant (Restaurante “Almàssera de Guillem”) and coffee lounge cater to hotel and outside guests. We also organise events, weddings, banquets, functions, corporate events etc. The first dining room is called the “Menjador Almàssera”. Its design and decoration are reminiscent of an old Altean farmhouse down to the last detail, and include tools and instruments typical of a traditional olive oil mill. The restaurant’s appeal lies in the music, air-conditioning, exemplary service and Mediterranean and regional cuisine. In cold weather guests can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace. The second dining room is called “Saló Altea”. It provides a more private setting, and caters chiefly for guests who want a more intimate atmosphere. The décor of this salon differs slightly from the other dining room, and features a display of part of the restaurant’s wine collection. It has been designed to be a venue for meetings.

We recommend that you sample the rice dishes and paellas, the sea food and fish, the meats and specialities of the house, which are all part of our typical regional cuisine.

- Our coffee lounge: The bar-coffee lounge is a cosy welcoming room which is arranged with comfortable chairs and tables. It has an extensive range of drinks, a television and fireplace, and is the perfect place to relax in. If you prefer being outdoors, drinks can be taken on the terrace. We recommend that you try our range of coffees, chocolates and infusions from “Tierras del Café” or choose your favourite drink from our extensive drinks menu.

Double Room

- Our rooms: The hotel has 22 spacious rooms on two floors. The first floor is accessed by the lift or the stairs and has single rooms, double and twin rooms, a disabled friendly room, a Double room with canopy bed and a Special Suite. Designed to enhance guest comfort and satisfaction, they have balconies and windows with breathtaking views and enchanting surroundings. All the rooms have television, telephone, internet connection, a safe, mini-bar, air-conditioning and a bathroom with accompanying toiletries. The most sumptuous room is the Special Suite. It is the most spacious room and boasts a private sauna and hydromassage bath for the sole use of the guests in the Suite.

- History The Hotel “Tossal d’Altea” was created by restoring and enlarging an old Altean farmhouse that was built over 300 years ago. The farmhouse was originally dedicated to the exploitation of vineyards but it was later converted into an olive oil mill to manage a plantation of olive trees, carob trees and almond trees. With the passage of time and lack of use the building had fallen into a sad state of repair, and needed to be completely restored. Our idea was to convert it into a hotel which would retain some of the most typical distinguishing features of an olive oil mill. For this reason the middle of the main dining room has a roller mill with its typical cylindrical stone mill and two restored presses as a symbol of the tools which were used by our ancestors. In this way tradition and modern life go hand in hand. After over 30 months of building and renovation work, and having completed all the pre-opening preparations, the Hotel “Tossal d’Altea” was inaugurated on 8 June, 2007, amid great expectations.
