Conclusions – Position Paper

Concluding paragraphs are just as important as introductions.

The concluding paragraph closes the essay and tries to close the issue.

The aim is to convince the reader that your essay has covered all the most important arguments about the issue and that your main conclusion is the best position on the issue.

You should not present any new arguments in your concluding paragraph.

Many students find it difficult to write a concluding paragraph.

They want to quickly finish the essay so they write a rushed and badly written concluding paragraph.

But the concluding paragraph is the last part of the essay that your reader will see. Spend some time on carefully writing the concluding paragraph so that you give your reader a good final impression of your essay.

In our world of ever increasing technological advances, video games and future forms of them will simply be a fact of life. Today’s teens and the teens of the future will be immersed in this form of entertainment, and in many ways playing the games could enhance their lives. However, the production and promotion of violent video games must be tapered and regulated because being immersed in this virtual violence can lead to violence. Video games affect the brain, especially the developing brains of teens, and people without a stable support system to teach them values or a strong mental constitution are vulnerable to the effects of the extreme violence they encounter in some video games. If the creators of video games have free reign to push the limit for violence, there is no telling how far these games might go. What will happen when the games become virtual reality, 3D and more realistic? Entertaining, challenging, thought-provoking video games can be developed without resorting to graphic violence. The video game industry should take the ethical high ground and set limits on the amount and kind of violence in its games, and until they do, consumers should resist buying these violent games
