Academic is the kind of information which is found in high school and university textbooks. Academic subjects include management, accounting, law, etc.

Discourse means written or oral expression. In this course we focus on ‘written’ expression/discussion.

You will: learn how to write clearly, concisely and

coherently about a variety of topics. learn how to use three (3) types of

reading sources - textbook chapters - encyclopedia articles

- periodical articles. become knowledgeable at using a large

monolingual (one language) dictionary (LDCE).
