Rhetorical Situation Chart  You will identify one summer job or internship that you are interested in applying for and post the following information to our website: 1.  A formal outline or description for the job/internship yo u selected. Compose and post a job description including the job’s title, descri ption, list of skills needed, and department that will be hiring you. Include a link if there is one available. 2. Brief description about why you want to pursue this job or internship (less than 150  words). 3. Create your own rhetorical chart with the specifics that pertain to the job you’re applying for. This will show that you have basic knowledge about your position.   Your rhetorical situation chart should be laid ou t like the one above for the business unit  with sections indicating the genre, purpose, audience, role and r hetorical situation.

   You will fill it with the information that is specific  to your job. For example, your role is

generally a “job seeker,” but for your specific job, you might try to project yourself in the

role of a “salesperson” or a “medical assistant.” 

Feeder 1: Professional Resume

Compose a resume that presents relevant experiences and other information that would be

useful to internship/job recruiters and that presents you as an attractive applicant for the position

you have selected. We will discuss in greater detail the discrete sections that your resume should

include and how it should be formatted. We will also consult sample resumes for this feeder, which I

strongly encourage you to examine in your free time as well.

Feeder 2: Cover Letter

 You will be required to write a cover letter for the specific position you have selected. In

class, we will review more specifically the format, sections, purpose, and style of the cover letter. In

general, your letter should be no more than one page in length, easy to read, and free of grammatical

errors.

Unit Assignment: Job/Internship Interview

 The final project for this unit will be an interview for your position. Instead of meeting for

our usual class periods, you will be interviewed for the positions you’ve selected.
