Engineering Operations

Expect to begin power ops (ISTP) next week. Plasma Ops by Feb 16th

NB conditioning going well with all 3 sources operating > 80keV.

An extended NSTX run plan is possible (from the 14 to up to 20 weeks)

–A mid-run break may be required to replace the NB calorimeter bellows.–The LLD trays and BES diagnostic will not be installed until end of the run. –Operations will resume in early FY10 to commission the LLD and BES

LITER, Lithium Shaker and HHFW systems will be re-commissioned in parallel with NSTX operations. Resources will have to be balanced to maintain the needed support of LLD/BES.

Planning for the Maintenance Weeks is in progress, and will consider the impact of the 2 March ReNew workshops. Discuss at the Program Ops Mtg.

Completion of the MSE-LIF upgrade to be deferred to next year.

Engineering Operations

FY09 Outage/ FY10 Ops Planning:

An early completion date for the planned 14 week run is in Mid-June.

Plan on an abbreviated outage to install and commission the Liquid Lithium Divertor system, and to complete the new BES diagnostic.

Hope to resume operations sometime in the fall with this new capability.

Ten weeks of in-vessel work is planned. Need to consider post and pre-run diagnostic calibration requirements for this outage.

Significant Elevated Water Tower riser repairs, and a PSE&G replacement of 138kV lines are needed before the start of the FY10 run.
