CAREERS IN NAVAL SHIPBUILDING ABOUT THE NAVAL SHIPBUILDING COLLEGE The Naval Shipbuilding College is an Australian Government initiative supporting the naval shipbuilding industry and associated supply chain in identifying, and skilling, the workforce needed to build and sustain the Royal Australian Navy’s future fleet. The Australian Government is investing $90 billion in constructing some of the most technologically advanced ships and submarines in the world, which will play a pivotal role in ensuring the defence of our borders and stability of our region. This investment will create approximately 15,000 jobs across many diverse job families. Use CAD equipment and graphic tools, gather information, compute calculations and prepare original, rough layouts when presenting design proposals. Help coordinate design criteria including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and contractual specifications with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material and planning groups. Provide guidance and assistance to members of the team to help in resolving problems and issues. DESIGNER/ DRAFTER
