Feldenkrais Institute!
Tuesday, April 4 • 6:30-9:00 pmA Feldenkrais Institute Reading and Discussion Event
You are invited to attend an evening free talk and discussion with Joshua
Wolk, exploring Moshe Feldenkrais’ life story and the genesis of the Feldenkrais
Method. Joshua will discuss some of the highlights of A Life in Movement,
volume one of the biography of Moshe Feldenkrais written by Mark Reese,
which chronicles the larger-than-life tale of both man and method.
Learn about the ways in which Feldenkrais was influenced by physics, judo, and
his own dramatic life experience. Join us for a relaxed and interesting evening.
Together, we will develop a deeper understanding of the revolutionary
approach to human functioning called the Feldenkrais Method.
This event is free, with a suggested donation of $10
Copies of A Life in Movement are available at our front desk.
Joshua Wolk was fortunate to study the Feldenkrais Method with Mark Reese, the author of A Life in Movement. In 1995, Joshua graduated from a Feldenkrais Professional Training Program directed by Mark Reese in Los Angeles, and began his Feldenkrais practice at the Reese Movement Institute in Cardiff, California. He looks forward to exploring the illuminating work of his teacher and mentor.

Using the Feldenkrais Method®
to Improve Visionwith David Webber, GCFP
Did you know that our brain receives ten times more visual information than from all our other senses combined? Vision is the primary sense through which we experience the world.
If you would like to improve the quality and comfort of your vision, you may enjoy this special workshop with David Webber, a Feldenkrais Teacher who used the Feldenkrais Method help himself to regain his sight. Over the course of three days, David Webber will share the four steps that he has discovered to be essential to re-activating the visual system of the brain. Participants will experience Feldenkrais exercises that are specifically designed to improve the neurological habits and organization necessary to promote comfortable, effective vision. By changing the way we use our eyes, we are able to see more clearly.
David’s story was featured in The Brain’s Way of Healing: Remarkable Recoveries and Discoveries from the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity, the New York Times best-seller by Norman Doidge, M.D. This workshop is open to both the public and the Feldenkrais community.
Friday-Sunday, April 7-9Friday 4:00-9:00 pm • Saturday: 10:00 am-5:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am-4:00 pm
Learn a natural ‘neuro-plastic’ Feldenkrais approach to improving and strengthening your eyes and your visionSeeing Clearly can help you to reduce your dependence on glasses, relieve the discomfort of Computer Vision Syndrome, reduce chronic discomfort in your eyes, head, neck and back, and improve your balance.
Join David Webber to learn four strategies to re-activate the visual system of your brain:
• How to relax the muscles of your eyes
• How to move your eyes freely
• How to aim your eyes to focus with precision
• How to coordinate the movements of your eyes with your whole body for better 3D vision and balance
David Webber teaches Seeing Clearly® workshops and has presented at the Natural Vision Conference in North America and Europe. He lives and practices in Toronto, Canada and Vienna, Austria.
” David Webber…was blind from the age of forty-three until he cured himself using his own application of Feldenkrais’s understanding of the brain and mind. For years he had taken medications and had many operations on his eyes, all of which failed to restore his sight. But today he is off eye medications and can see.” – Norman Doidge, M.D. • The Brain That Heals Itself

The term ‘neuroplasticity’ refers to our brain’s quality of flexibility; it’s ability to
learn new things and rewire itself. Thanks to our neuroplasticity, we can change
old habits, develop new skills, and improve throughout our lifetime. This is good
news for anyone who suffers from physical discomfort or pain, or has difficulties
with posture or movement. And, it’s also good news for those who are curious
about human learning, and interested in accessing more of their potential.
Dr. Feldenkrais knew how to access the power of the brain and provide it
with the stimulation and conditions it needs to build new neural pathways,
to improve neuromuscular and skeletal organization. On Saturday afternoon,
April 15, join David Zemach-Bersin, one of this country’s most distinguished
Feldenkrais Teachers, to experience the miracle of your neuroplasticity in action.
Wondering about studying the Feldenkrais Method? Don’t miss this chance to meet David Zemach-Bersin and sample his teaching. A new Feldenkrais Method Training Program directed by David Zemach-Bersin
begins at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York, this Summer.
Member Tuition: $50 • Pre-Registration: $90 • Day of Event: $100

A workshop for something New Yorkers do a lot of...
Our body is designed to walk, and some of us walk a great deal. The average
New Yorker takes over 5,000 steps a day and walks 92,000 miles in a lifetime.
But walking is not a comfortable or pleasurable activity for everyone.
Many people experience pain or feel tense, achy and uncomfortable
while walking.
Feldenkrais Institute co-founder, Marek Wyszynski, has designed an
immediately practical workshop to help you improve your comfort,
stamina and efficiency while walking. Please join us for an evening learning
effective strategies that can enhance this important activity. The Feldenkrais
exercises featured in this workshop will help to reduce stiffness in your
muscles and joints, so you are able to walk with greater ease. They will also
support improvements in your posture, flexibility, balance, sleep, and help
you to relieve stress and improve your mood.
Tuesday, April 25 • 6:30-9:30 pm
Member Tuition: $30 • Pre-Registration: $55 • Day of Event: $65
Bring a Friend for Free!
The quality of your breathing impacts the quality of your life in a surprising
number of ways. Helping us to develop a better awareness of the way air enters
and exits our body, the Feldenkrais Method can improve our physical comfort
and sense of wellbeing in some immediate and dramatic ways.
If your breathing is shallow and restricted, you are more likely to feel weak,
anxious and tired. If your breathing is healthy you are more likely to feel strong,
relaxed and energetic. Healthy breathing promotes relaxation and good
circulation and benefits your physical comfort, posture, ease of movement,
outlook, and ability to handle stress.
This soothing workshop with Senior Staff Practitioner Mark Hirschfield features
Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons (exercises) designed to
enhance the function of your entire breathing apparatus. Enjoy a Feldenkrais
approach to better breathing and gain new freedom in your ribs, belly,
shoulders, neck and pelvis.
