The palace performed a year-long study of the Nansulate® coating for resistance to mold growth. Nansulate® was coated on the three lower tiles in the photo, and after a year proved to be resistant to mold growth in this extremely humid climate. The tiles coated with Nansulate® remained free of mold growth, while the untreated tiles were once again covered with mold growth. After the successful completion of the study, the Palace arranged for the application of 2-coats of Nansulate® for mold resistance to be applied to the extensive area of its marble palace walls. In addition to keeping mold from forming on the palace walls, which greatly reduced their maintenance costs, the coating also provided protection against moisture penetration, damaging UV rays and deterioration as a result of the salt air, all while remaining invisible, which allowed the beauty of the palace to shine through.
