Expo Exhibition Complex is located in the south of the center Astana is approximately 4 km., Near-Nazarbayev University
The area - 173.4 hectares, the complex is almost square in shape, the length of the border - 1.3 km, the length of the border - 1.3 km.
The district is almost flat (the difference in height is about 0.7 m for the entire length of the border)
The main green axis passes in the north from Bayterek to exhibition complex.
The complex is mostly surrounded by residential areas in accordance with the general plan of Astana.

1. The international architectural competition for the best
sketch idea of exhibition complex
The key idea of the exhibition EXPO-2017 and its theme is the search
and presentation for its countries of innovative technologies in the field of new
power which can significantly in the future, if not to say cardinally, to change
people's ideas about energy and the importance of development of "green"
economy.
Platform EXPO-2017 in Astana has become the first-ever demonstration platform of power infrastructure of the Third industrial revolution in which will be used its five principles:
- The use of renewable energy sources,
- Buildings as mini-power plants,
- Use of technologies for energy storage,
- (smart grids),
- Use of electric cars.

Development of feasibility on building of the territory EXPO-
2017
In according to theme of an exhibition power supply of EXPO objects shall be at
the expense of renewable energy sources, i.e.
- Heat supply – at the expense of heat pumps,
- Power supply – at the expense of wind power and the sun.
Main objectives of FS:
- Selection of advanced technology, alternative energy equipment and energy
efficient materials used in construction;
- Segmentation of the territory of an independent construction area, the project of
the management plan;
- Mark of all expenses for construction,
- Passage of the construction, economic and environmental expertise.

Development of design and budget documentation EXPO-2017
By the legislation of Kazakhstan as the main financing of construction will be at the
expense of the state investments, required state construction expertise of design and
estimate documentation. Because of the time allotted, expertise will be carried out in the
mode of expert support.
That is, the construction and development of PSD will be conducted in stages, when it is
ready and approval expertise of stages PSD.
Start of construction - after the approval of the following materials PSD:
- outline sketch of object, sketches of facades, floor plans, characteristic vertical sections,
roof plan, three-dimensional image;
- Constructive calculations and schemes, and also drawings of the zero cycle;
- Schematic diagrams of internal engineering life support systems;
- The scheme of intra-and off-site engineering networks.

Building of objects EXPO-2017
Selection of building contractors the territory of the Expo 2017 will be
held on competitive procedures in accordance with the legislation of Kazakhstan.
For building contractors main requirement - the presence of Kazakhstan
construction license of the corresponding category.
On the territory of the EXPO is planned deployment of temporary
production facilities for the centralized supply construction building materials.
The territory EXPO is a Special Economic Zone "Astana - new city"
that provides tax benefits.
