In his speech, Al-Adsani confirmed that the oil sector was working in a timely manner to facilitate the completion of a number of major oil projects throughout Kuwait. These projects, he maintained, will help Kuwait realize a number of its long-term efforts. They will also ensure that a number of KPC strategies are achieved. In a statement he made at the event, KOC CEO Hashem Hashem upheld his belief that the Town Hall Meeting would clarify and confirm a number of important messages. According to him, the first and most important message was the fact that a high degree of cooperation and teamwork was present within KPC and its subsidiaries. The second message, he said, concerned challenges to all K-Companies that require further cooperation, integration and synergy between various companies and sectors. The KOC CEO went on to say that the reason the Subaihiya Oasis was chosen as the location for this event was because of the important symbolic significance Subaihiya has played for Kuwait historically. In the past, Subaihiya was an important destination for many Kuwaitis as it was a reliable source of water. Today, it serves as a symbol that connects the lessons and history of the past with the present by creating a link to the modern oil and gas industry that has grown in Kuwait.

KOC recently hosted the annual KPC Town Hall Meeting, which was held this year at the Subaihiya Oasis. 1st Young Professionals Conference 2015Hashem: We are dedicated to the training and development of young professionals

In yet another manifestation of KOC’s recognition of the role young talent plays, the Company recently organized the first Young Professionals Conference. Over a three-day period, the event reviewed the best practices aimed at developing the careers of young talent through opportunities and programs K-Companies provide.

In opening remarks made at the conference, CEO Hashem Hashem said that KOC plays a crucial role in contributing to the overall economy of Kuwait; therefore, it is imperative to develop a skilled, competent, and motivated national workforce.

He added that young professionals truly are the future face of KOC and that it was the Company’s responsibility to ensure that they are provided with the collective knowledge and experience of KOC staff. In addition, they should be provided with the resources they need to carry KOC into the future.

The CEO also maintained that the conference will do much in the way of highlighting the Company’s young talent while allowing them to network and learn from their peers at other K-Companies and GCC institutions. He expressed hope that everyone in attendance benefitted from the event, adding that he looked forward to meeting KOC’s future leaders.

KOC Signs Five-year Contract with NBKNBK to provide banking services to KOC and its employees

KOC and the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) recently signed a five-year contract designed to offer the latest in banking services to the Company and its employees.

In a statement he made on the occasion, KOC CEO Hashem Sayed Hashem said the cooperation between KOC and NBK, two of the largest institutions in Kuwait, was a mutually beneficial relationship. The CEO went on to say that KOC continues to seek the best possible methods to provide employees with the finest services available. He maintained that as one of Kuwait’s leading financial institutions, NBK was selected because of its ability to provide KOC employees with services that live up to Company expectations and requirements.

Hashem also said that the contract includes a new range of banking services, including e-services and traditional banking services, for the Company and KOC employees.

Meanwhile, Financial Payments Team Leader from the Financial Accounts & Service Group, Khaled Al-Ajmi, who acts as the Contract Manager, said NBK is a leading Kuwaiti establishment that will provide unique services and specially designed offers for KOC employees.

SPE Organizes First Young Professionals ForumA range of professionals shared their experiences with the audience

The Kuwait branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers re-cently organized the first Young Professionals Forum under the title “From Young Professionals to Great Achievers.” The event, which took place under the auspices of KOC CEO Hashem Hashem and the Ministry of Health for Youth Affairs, was held at the Hilton in Mangaf.In a statement he made on the occasion, Hashem praised the role that the Society of Petroleum Engineers plays for the State of Kuwait. He also commended the organization’s interest in providing informative events for the country’s youth, who he said will play a large role in Kuwait’s future projects and goals. This is why, he said, the State of Kuwait accorded ad-ditional care for the youth and provides them with necessary learning and tools for advancement, an effort that is embod-ied in the newly-formed Ministry of State for Youth Affairs.Hashem went on to say that KOC also played a role in de-veloping and supporting the youth of Kuwait. For example, a program titled “Under Development” is especially designed to improve the skills and knowledge of young people. He noted that this program has graduated thousands of employ-ees, and many of them have assumed leading positions in the Company and the oil sector in general. The forum, which was organized by Reservoir Engineer Eman Al-Fadli from the Fields Development Group (WK), reviewed the success stories of the Company’s former CEO, Sami Al-Rushaid, Kuwait University Professor Dr. Salah Al-Mudhi, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Khodor, among others.

KOC recently held a meeting with Waleed Al-Shoaib, the Assistant Undersecretary for Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. Also in attendance were the Head of the Mosques Renovation Heritage Department, Salem Al-Adwani, and the Ministry’s Support Manager, Munaif Al-Hajery. During the meeting, those in attendance discussed means of joint cooperation on work related to mosques in Ahmadi and the imams and muethins that serve them.

Ahmadi Projects Group Manager Esmaeil Al-Khawari, TL Local Relations Hussain Al-Amri, TL Building Maintenance Fayez Al-Mazkour, and Acting TL Corporate Projects Nasser Al-Nashat attended the meeting.

In his speech, Al-Khawari maintained that KOC spared no effort in its work with various government institutions to offer the best possible services to KOC employees and Ahmadi residents.

Operational Planning Concludes Validation of WD PGS Program feedback received

The Operational Planning Team recently concluded the communication and validation of the Well Delivery Project Gate System (WD PGS) Program that was initiated in August of 2014 between Schlumberger Business Consulting and KOC Team Leaders. The validation sessions, which were held under the supervision of Operational Planning Team Leader Nawaf Al-Shehab, targeted all Team Leaders involved in the various stages of production in order to receive their feedback on the program, which consists of two parts. The first part, which was successfully concluded in March of 2015, was comprised of capturing the “As-is” well delivery process, designing the first draft of “To-be” process, and validating the first draft with a wide spectrum of Subject Matter Experts from all concerned Teams. The second part, which was launched at the end of March, focuses on communicating and validating the WD PGS with the Team Leaders, Managers and DCEOs. It is also concerned with training and documentation.

HSE Team Organizes Seminar In cooperation with the Construction Training Institute

The Health, Safety and Environment Team (Export and Marine Operations) recently organized a seminar that discussed the importance of health, safety and the environment. The event was organized with the cooperation of the Construction Training Institute of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.Held at the institute’s field training hall, the seminar was attended by HSE Team Leader Bader Al-Azmi and Construction Training Institute Engineer Khaled Al-Mazroui, in addition to a host of other engineers and employees. During the event, Engineer Yousef Al-Shamroukh discussed export operations while Engineer Othman Al-Asfour spoke about safety laws. Meanwhile, Engineer Bader Al-Essa focused his lecture on waste management while Engineer Musaed Al-Bouardi discussed ways in which accidents can be avoided. The seminar was attended by a group of approximately 100 students and trainees who interacted with the presenters and asked questions about issues related to HSE.

KOC Meets PMI DelegationA meeting was held recently between KOC and a delegation of the Kuwait Team (AG Chapter) from the Project Management Institute (PMI). The function was held in the context of the periodic meetings conducted by PMI in Kuwait for its members.During the meeting, which was held at the Guest House in Ahmadi, a presentation was conducted by TL Knowledge Management Rima Al-Awadhi and Knowledge Management Specialist Abdul Jaleel Tharayil. Their presentation covered the concept of Knowledge Management, how it is applied, and its relation with Project Management, which is the core specialty of the visiting delegation.The presentation, which was delivered based on a PMI request, was rich and constructive. A discussion about the subject that followed saw the participation of the audience, which exceeded more than 40 people. Questions, mostly related to how PMI can benefit from the concept of Knowledge Management, were answered by Al-Awadhi and Tharayil in a clear and detailed manner.Senior Engineer (Planning & Services) at KOC and the Director of the Sites Visit process at PMI, Ahmed El-Sharqawy, coordinated the meeting.PMI includes more than half a million members from all over the world and is present in 185 countries. The Arabian Gulf branch is considered one of the most active branches, with about four thousand members and five regional teams working in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

KOC and Kuwait Army Hold Workshop on Quality SystemsLocal Relations and Quality Assurance Teams participate

KOC recently organized a workshop in coordination with the Quality Control Team of Kuwait Army’s Chief of Staff Department.The workshop, held at the Ministry of Defense, was conducted with the participation of the KOC Local Relations Team and Quality Assurance Team. Participants at the workshop exchanged experiences and information and cooperated on matters related to unifying the work mechanism of the quality system applications on both sides.A member of Kuwait Army’s Quality Control Team, Major Fares Al-Safih, maintained that the workshop was aimed at unifying views and mechanisms of action. He also said the exchange of experiences with different institutions was beneficial for all parties involved, pointing out that KOC has extensive experience in the field of quality control.

KOC Attends International Conference in ThailandInternational Conference on Computer Science, Data Mining & Mechanical Engineering

KOC Organizes 5th Chess TournamentMore than 50 players participate

The Chess Committee recently organized the 5th KOC Chess Tournament in cooperation with the Kuwait Union of Chess. More than 50 chess players competed in the men, women and youth categories.

The five-day event was held based on the “Dynamic Play System,” which grants each player a total of 30 minutes of time. This type of play features fierce competition among participants.

The Kuwait Union of Chess, which co-organized the event and accredited it with the International Chess Federation, expressed its sincere appreciation to KOC, represented by CEO Hashem Sayed Hashem, for hosting the event. Prizes were distributed to participants at the conclusion of the event.

The Major Projects I Group recently participated in the International Conference on Computer Science, Data Mining & Mechanical Engineering (ICCDMME 2015). The event was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

During the event, Mohammed Al-Adwani, Senior Engineer Projects, presented a paper titled “Quantification of Re-measurable Hard Strata in Pipeline Projects.” Al-Adwani’s paper was discussed during one of the conference’s sessions.

The conference was attended by many international experts in the field of oil and gas and beyond. For his efforts and participation, Al-Adwani received a certificate from the organizers that recognized his research and contribution to the conference.

The Contract & Purchasing Services Team from the Commercial Support Group recently organized a workshop that explained the latest developments and adjustments made to the policies relating to contracts and procurement.

The workshop, which was held under the supervision of TL Khaled Al-Adsani, was attended by personnel associated with contracts and purchases from all departments throughout KOC. During the event, Senior Contracts Officer Mohamad Morra delivered a presentation in which he discussed the developments in various policies, procedures and terms for contracts over the past few years.

In his presentation, Morra informed the audience of a number of updates to various terms and policies. The last update was conducted in 2006. Since then, there have been a number of technical and administrative developments while new systems have been introduced, leading to modifications on pre-existing policies for contracts and purchases. The Senior Contracts officer detailed the reasons for the policies and maintained that new divisions have been established to handle the new amendments.

The Community Services Team recently held a ceremony to honor winners of KOC’s recent Garden Competition. In addition to beautifying the city of Ahmadi, the Garden Competition serves the important function of creating environmental awareness throughout Kuwait.

In his speech, TL Community Services Nasser Al-Mutawaa welcomed the audience and the competition winners. He then thanked the winners for their participation and upheld the efforts put forth by both competitors and judges, who effectively provided scores for each garden based on merit and according to strict guidelines.

Later, Al-Mutawaa confirmed that plans exist for the Company to provide further assistance and support for future competitors. This includes the provision of materials, agricultural tips and more.
