ENERGY IN SOCIETY

This unit is concerned with the importance of energy resources and energy use in

the development of the society as a whole. Students should be able appreciate local

resources and practice proper utilization of energy for sustainability.

Competencies

At the end of the unit, students should be able to:

1. Explain the role of energy in the development of human society from the industrial age to the knowledge-based society.

2. Discuss examples of the interaction among energy, technology and society [e.g. effects of energy in the environment, economic growth and energy demand; energy resources and energy crisis, etc.]

3. Infer that the total mass-energy in the universe is constant.
