Today, thermal imaging delivers exceptional accuracy, consistency and productivity to more than one thousand newspaper printers around the world. Capable of generating 200 lpi images consistently at speeds of up to 300 plates per hour, the Kodak Generation News System is the only high-speed thermal plate making system available for newspapers. Advanced automation features enable the system to run multiple plate formats continuously with no operator intervention, helping you maximize productivity. The system integrates easily into third party workflows with an XML based interface, and ships with Kodak Intelligent Prepress Manager software, which remotely monitors the entire integrated plate line to optimize plate process flow, maximize uptime, increase unattended operation, and save on materials and maintenance costs.

After plates are imaged, the system automatically conveys them to the plate processor. The Kodak Mercury P-HD Plate Processor is a heavy-duty processor designed specifically to meet the needs of the newspaper industry.

The Kodak Trendsetter News Platesetter is ideal for newspaper printers requiring throughput of up to 150 plates per hour. With excellent image quality, industry-leading stability, and a choice of throughput and automation options, this device gives newspapers all the benefits of thermal imaging at an affordable cost.
