Endicott College Men's Tennis Media GuideTRANSCRIPT
The mission of Endicott College is to instill in students an understanding of and an appreciation for professional and liberal studies. Deeply woven within this philosophy is the concept of applied learning, which has been the hallmark of Endicott. Linking classroom and off-campus work experience through required internships remains the most distinguishing feature of the College.
Endicott has a vision for the total development of the individual within a community that fosters an appreciation of diversity, international awareness, community service, and moral and ethical values. Endicott is an innovative and vibrant, student-centered institution that supports undergraduate and graduate students in their pursuit of knowledge.
Common threads run through the fabric of the Endicott experience: increased self-confidence, stronger professional skills and technological competencies, and perhaps the most valued of all, lives open to change.

When looking at colleges, I knew I wanted to continue to play tennis but I also wanted to make sure I was going to receive a quality education. I chose Endicott because of the strong internship program and the ability for me to still play tennis at a competitive level. The internships that I completed have allowed me to explore my major and get hands on experience. I have learned many valuable skills during my internships and I know that they will be useful post-graduation. Balancing tennis with schoolwork has helped me learn how to prioritize and manage time ef-fectively, which is why I chose to be a Division III athlete. – Justin Warshavsky

benjamin randlett I transferred to Endicott when I realized I wanted to study business, which my previ-ous school did not offer. After I checked out the business faculty staff and after seeing their experience and outstanding careers, I knew I’d be able to learn a great deal. The internship program was also a large draw for me through which I secured a full time investment analyst position from the firm I interned for during senior year. – Benjamin Randlett
My graduating class in high school had 210 students and when I was going through the college selection process I was looking for a school that was slightly larger than that. Endi-cott was exactly what I was looking for in class sizes, profes-sors, extracurricular activities, campus location, academics, and especially tennis. Another major factor was Endicott’s internship program where I gained valuable work experience that will help me become successful in the future. Being a student-athlete helped me to manage my time properly between academics and school work. Competing at a Division III school allowed me to balance my time between academics, school work, and college life. Attending Endicott was one of the best decisions in my life. - Olivier Joggi

Endicott enters the 2013 season under new leadership in first year head coach Jeremy Howard, a product of the NCAA Division I Richmond Spiders, who looks to lead the Gulls to their first ever ap-pearance in the CCC Championship in program his-tory. The Blue and Green have made the semifinal round of the conference tournament in five of the past six seasons.
Howard hopes that a new style and a new ap-proach to tennis will create a competitive atmo-sphere on this year’s squad to drive them towards a deep run in the CCC Tournament.
“We’re not a top-heavy team, but we have a lot of parity that will allow guys to step in and play at any position,” said Howard. “I’m looking to inspire that competitive spirit so that when playoff time arrives and we’re up against some of the same teams that have been eliminating us, we’re going to have a better shot at winning.”
Endicott’s leadership this spring will come from a trio of seniors, two of which are captains, that all possess different yet effective leadership qualities.
Captain Olivier Joggi, who was named All-CCC Second Team for singles and All-CCC Second Team for doubles with partner Jake Cohen, has proven
to be the vocal leader of the team. Joggi occupied the top position in Endicott’s singles lineup in 2012 going 8-7 overall with a 5-3 record in conference play. With Cohen, the duo combined to go 9-8 at the #1 flight with a near perfect 6-1 mark against league opponents.
Cohen, the team’s second captain this spring, is a leader by example with his play on the court both in practice and in competitive CCC matches. Cohen went 11-10 overall in singles play across several different positions but stood out at the #3 and #4 spots going a combined 10-7. Cohen also went 7-1 in CCC matches in singles.
Endicott’s third senior, Benjamin Randlett has proven to be a calming presence on the team with his even-keeled attitude. Randlett shared time at the #4 and #5 singles flights and totaled and over-all record of 5-2. He also teamed up with several different doubles partners last spring but with cur-rent sophomore Eric Gandrup, the duo dominated with a 7-2 overall and 5-1 conference record.
These seniors will need to provide leadership for a sophomore heavy roster that includes Gandrup, Michael Lauretano, Timothy Forance, Justin War-shavsky, and Corbin Tulley. Forance went 9-7 (4-1 CCC) in his freshman campaign and was most ef-
fective in the #6 singles position with a 7-3 overall standing. Warshavsky also shined in conference matches going 3-1 while Lauretano, when teamed up with then senior Porter Williams, was effective at the #3 doubles flight at 3-2 overall.
The Blue and Green will also rely on junior Evan Ross who showed versatility by playing a several different spots the lineup and compiling a 6-5 (3-2 CCC) record. Coach Howard will also look at freshman Michael Dolph this spring, who has looked good and shown promise during the fall season.
Looking ahead to the spring schedule, the Gulls make their annual trip down to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the Spring TennisFest before returning to New England for conference play.
“We’ll have a good idea of what we’re made of af-ter our spring break trip to Hilton Head. We expect to face off against some stiff national competition.”
The Gulls start their CCC schedule with two tough matches on the road against Eastern Nazarene (March 27th) and Roger Williams (April 2nd) before a stretch of four straight at home. Endicott faces off against the defending CCC champions, Nichols, on Wednesday, April 24th in Dudley, Massachusetts.
“Nichols is top dog in our conference and there is this thought the rest of league is just going to battle for second place. Our goal in the beginning of our season is to serve notice to the rest of the conference if we are going to go down, we’re going to go down fighting and not just give up first place. Our guys need to believe in themselves and be ready to compete this spring.”

Jeremy Howard
Jeremy Howard begins his first season as the next head coach for the Gulls men’s and women’s tennis programs. Howard, a
former NCAA DI tennis player at the University of Richmond, comes to Endicott after coaching the Stowe (Vt.) High School boys tennis team since the spring of 2011. He oversaw his state championship contending tennis squad through scheduling matches, coordinating and running practices, and coaching the team in approximately 20 head-to-head matches.
Howard also served as the Director of Marketing for the Grand Slam Tennis Tours, Inc. located in Stowe, Vermont since 2005. He implemented marketing plans, expanded sales and business development, managed social media efforts, edited the company website, and coordinated all marketing and advertising campaigns during his seven-year stint at GSTT.
While earning his Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, degree in Politi-cal Science from the University of Richmond, Howard helped the Spiders to the 2001 Atlantic-10 Championship and an appear-ance in the NCAA Tournament. He went on to get his Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Educational Leadership & Student Administration from the University of Vermont in December of 2010 and completed an internship in the UVM athletic department.
Howard has also coached a variety of camps in his career including the Windridge Tennis Camp in Jeffersonville, Vermont, ranked a top 10 tennis camp in the United States by Tennis Magazine, where he was the head tennis counselor and assistant tennis director. He also worked at the Moses Brown RISE Ten-nis Camp as an assistant director in the summer of 2010.
Howard takes over a Gulls men’s tennis program that has reached the conference semifinals in five of the past six seasons. The Gulls went 10-12 overall, 5-3 in-conference last spring.
“My goal this spring is make our guys smarter players,” says Howard. “They need to have the mentality that hard work is the only way to improve our team.”
In less than a year, Howard has already seen the benefits of getting an Endicott College education. In conversations with recruits, he listens closely to how much time their put in their tennis but he also uses these one-on-one meetings to talk about Endicott academics and the experiential learning program.
“Endicott’s location is premiere, but the wide array of academic majors and the internship and experiential learning programs will prepare graduates for life after college. Endicott students leave Beverly with a resume entact and that is essential in securing post-graduation employment. I want my student-athletes to enjoy their tennis experience, but when they leave Endicott with a degree and a job then I know they taken full advantage of being a member of our community.”
